It's now a thing: lying flatism!

Wikipedia says: "Horizontalism is an approach to money creation theory pioneered by Basil Moore which states that private bank reserves are not managed by central banks. Instead reserves will be provided on demand at the bank rate set by the central bank."

So, I'd say no...

Unless there's another meaning for it...
Wow, all this time I thought Horizontalism was a made up word, used jokingly by @Alien826

Horizontalism is my personal religion that I joke about sometimes. It states that life is best experienced lying down.

My thoughts on "lying flatism" are that it may be a logical result of the way we are all expected to fit into society that demands that we "work hard" and raise families and so on. It doesn't take much observation to see that all this is not designed for our benefit, but for those that get rich from our efforts. Opting out is a logical conclusion.
Ah okay, I should've scrolled further before posting that last post. So I was right!

Lying-flatism could bring a better quality of life, if you take it to mean minimal labor for whatever amount you're comfortable with - instead of dedicating your entire life to a career or a business. But taken to the extreme lying-flatism can bring a low quality of life. One would not know true happiness if they live in a single bedroom and eat ramen all their life, in my opinion.

I also think a romantic partnership might be essential to a happy life. One could find ways to be happy without it, but it definitely improves the quality of life.

I dunno, mate...
Basketball is essential. But anything else? Doubtful. Adds colour, though, for sure.

What's wrong with a single bedroom? How would more space bring happiness?

I agree on the ramen, though. I enjoy ramen, but nothing but would lead to poor health, and likely unhappiness.

No religious beliefs
And I will mean @Alien826's philosophy when I refer to Horizontalism. The boring and obscure economic theory needs a qualifier like "economic horizontalism".
I didn't actually make up the word. A long long time ago, I read a humorous post from someone who described how he had to fill out a form when joining the Army. One of the questions was "religion?". Apparently he was not allowed to leave it blank even though he had no religion. So he put "horizontalist", and they were perfectly happy with it, even though it was a total invention and didn't relate to any existing religion. I think they wanted to know how he should be buried if he was killed, but I can't confirm that.

It stuck in my mind and I started using it in forums like this one. Later, I added the dogma and realized that it did describe my approach to life quite accurately. My attempts at proselytizing, and asking for donations have had no success, though it occurs to me that the lack of interest by others does suggest that they are following the tenets of the belief quite well.

And there you have the full story. :)

I can't help but think that having such a small space to call home would end up feeling like a cage. But I suppose everyone has their own ideas of what's comfortable and what isn't.

I see the reality of such encompassing ideologies as indeed broad and impossible to cover in a single definition.
I prefer dictionary definitions, & accept
variation that doesn't stray from them.
