Jesus Was a Druid?

Jesus Christ could have come to Britain to further his education, according to a Scottish academic.

Church of Scotland minister Dr Gordon Strachan makes the claim in a new film entitled And Did Those Feet.

The film examines the story of Jesus’ supposed visit, which survives in the popular hymn Jerusalem.

Dr Strachan believes it is “plausible” Jesus came to England for his studies, as it was the forefront of learning 2,000 years ago.
Jesus and the Druids

Mr Harrison, a former BBC religious affairs correspondent, says Jesus may just have been a boy when he left the Middle East for England.
Was Jesus taught by the Druids of Glastonbury? New film claims it is possible he came to England | Daily Mail Online

Personally, can't say I see much connection in the gospel stories.
Do Sons of God, or a whole 33,33333333333....% of God, need any education at all?

I've heard from some neo-pagans, that Mohammad (s) is on their side and one of them. The Quran says however, "it is not a word of soothsayer...", and so all plans of making Mohammad (s) one of their new age type leaders is refuted there.

Why would anyone go to Britain to study Judaism in 30 CE?

And what studies? The only influences visible in his teachings appear to be Graeco-Roman.

Or are there Druidic teachings (as such) in the NT that I've failed to notice?
Trees are mentioned in the Bible more than any living thing other than God and people. And every major character has a tree associated with it. Jesus died on a tree because it was prophesied in the Old Testament. Trees, like Jesus, give rather than take.
What Is the Significance of Trees in the Bible? Why Did Jesus Die on a Tree?

There is supposedly a connection through trees.
I'm not sure though the historical connection between Druids and trees. Historically we know very little about the Druids which allows a wealth of narratives for the fertile imagination. Then how much do we really know about the historical Jesus?

It's on the internet -- it must be true!

There is zero evidence that Jesus traveled to Europe or really anywhere outside the Levant. Your post is irresponsible.

Other than the stories in the NT, how much historical evidence do we have of Jesus. :D

That's the whole point. There is NO EVIDENCE of any travel by Jesus outside of the Levant.

We barely know that Jesus existed. Bascially, we have a ton of direct evidence for the existence of James the brother of Jesus. And if James existed, then so did Jesus.

I've heard a claim that Jesus went to the East and learned Buddhism or Hinduism or something.
New Agers made this up out of whole cloth. Just as there is zero evidence that Jesus went to the British Isles, there is zero evidence that he ever went to India. It's just wishful thinking by some people with very creative imaginations.

Or that he existed at all? How much the the biblical story of Jesus do you accept as factual?
You are repeating your question, which I answered. We have more than adequate evidence that James the brother of Jesus existed, and if James existed, then so did Jesus.

So does that make all of the stories about Jesus in the Bible factual?

Of course not. I made no such suggestion. You are preaching to the choir.

My point really is that fiction is being added to an account that is likely already mostly fictional.
That people believe it may be another matter but isn't that how belief works?

They have a whole religion based on the belief that Jesus came to America.

Yes, among the Celts the oak was notably sacred &c.

But in the first century, the Celts were in Britain and Ireland, France and Spain and the Lowlands, and pockets north of Italy in an arc round to Turkey. If there was a Celtic influence in Jewish culture ─ and I still don't see one ─ it would have to come via the Greeks in particular or the Romans in general.
