Friend Jaiket,
That reminds me of a joke.
When Mary gave birth to this child in the stable.
MAry asked Joseph "What name have you thought for the child"
Joseph said" Oh! Jesus!_ _"
so he was named Jesus.

Born Again,Spirit Filled
Do all the Christian members here genuinely feel that Jesus will come back?

Absolutely,I mean when Jesus is prophesied in the book of Isaiah as he is and that book was written 2 -3 hundred yrs before Christ and makes you think about some things.
Then you have the dead sea scrolls, including Isaiah and several other books Jesus quotes from in the gospels.

The greatest evidence is the Holy Spirit revealing to the believer the truth of God's word and Jesus Christ.

This verse belows speaks it well as to the whole purpose of the believer Paul
1Cr 15:19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men.

Why do you think it will be soon?

Your question speaks to a basic tenet of my faith. I believe the Old and New Testaments prophesy that Jesus will return one day and they also offer signs of the times.

I believe part of the reason that God called Joseph Smith to be a prophet and to restore the complete Church of Jesus Christ was to prepare the world for the second coming of the Savior. Following is a part of what I believe was a revelation from Jesus Christ to Joseph Smith:

11 Wherefore the voice of the Lord is unto the ends of the earth, that all that will hear may hear:
12 Prepare ye, aprepare ye for that which is to come, for the Lord is bnigh;

13 And the aanger of the Lord is kindled, and his bsword is bathed in heaven, and it shall fall upon the inhabitants of the earth.

14 And the aarm of the Lord shall be revealed; and the bday cometh that they who will not chear the voice of the Lord, neither the voice of his dservants, neither give eheed to the words of the prophets and fapostles, shall be gcut off from among the people;

15 For they have astrayed from mine bordinances, and have cbroken mine deverlasting covenant;

16 They aseek not the Lord to establish his righteousness, but every man bwalketh in his cown dway, and after the eimage of his own god, whose image is in the likeness of the world, and whose substance is that of an idol, which waxeth fold and shall perish in Babylon, even gBabylon the great, which shall fall.

17 Wherefore, I the Lord, aknowing the calamity which should come upon the binhabitants of the earth, ccalled upon my dservant Joseph Smith, Jun., and espake unto him from heaven, and gave him fcommandments;

18 And also gave commandments to others, that they should proclaim these things unto the world; and all this that it might be fulfilled, which was written by the prophets—

19 The aweak things of the world shall come forth and break down the mighty and strong ones, that man bshould not counsel his fellow man, neither ctrust in the arm of flesh—

20 But that every man might aspeak in the name of God the Lord, even the Savior of the world;

21 That faith also might increase in the earth;

22 That mine everlasting acovenant might be established;

23 That the afulness of my bgospel might be cproclaimed by the dweak and the simple unto the ends of the world, and before ekings and frulers.

24 Behold, I am God and have spoken it; these acommandments are of me, and were given unto my servants in their weakness, after the manner of their blanguage, that they might come to cunderstanding.

Here the Lord says his coming is "nigh". The reason my church is called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is because I believe we are in the "latter-days" or the end times just preceeding the return of Christ to earth. Now, we don't know when the time will come, and nobody does, but God has spoken in our day and age and said in effect "get ready, it's soon".

Just like in ancient times, the "real thing" prophets are on the earth again and marvelous things are happening to prepare the earth for the return of Jesus. As a familiar LDS hyms says:

"The visions and blessings of old are returning and angels are coming to visit the earth. We'll sing and we'll shout with the armies of heaven, Hosanna, Hosanna, to God and the Lamb, let glory to them in the highest be given, hence forth and forever, amen and amen."

The second coming is referred to in scripture as the "great and dreadful day of the Lord". I believe it can and will be a "great" day for many, the day when many will lovingly embrace Jesus as their Lord and Savior. It will be a dreadful time for those the Lord identifies as the wicked, who openly rebelled against God in their manner of living.

Well, if you accept the Gospels, Jesus does talk about his Second Coming and the Final Judgment quite a lot. However, if you're the type of person that only wants to believe parts of the Gospel, then obviously you can choose to accept or disregard anything that you want.

okt 31 2000 Jesus spoke with Vassula....see www.tlig.org
the following words:

The Triumph Of Our Lord
October 31, 2000
To all who love Your Heart, give them constant cause to say:

"The Lord's Heart in the end will triumph;
the Lord's Heart is like a divine Liturgy,
carrying peace for its people;
the Lord's Heart is unshakeable,
reigning transcendentally in the heights;
come, come all of you who still waver for
the cause of right, come to our Lord and
you will flourish in His Heart,
think this over and learn that
your refuge is in His Heart ..." (Vassula speaking)

peace to you My flower; ( Jesus speaking)

tell Me, is there on earth any greater joy or glory than understanding My Heart? what ability has man without Me shedding in his intellect My divine light of understanding? the Holy One who is speaking to you and who transcends everything satisfies your thirst with the melody of His Voice to pass on My divine Words to all nations; what are My Words? My Words are a mystical contemplation to enlighten your mind by the Holy Spirit and penetrate into the sublime knowledge of God;

soon I will be visiting the earth; the Sovereign, the One who most of you have forgotten tell you, generation: I shall take My stand on earth;

so many of you ask: "how shall He come?" to this I reply: "do you not know that since time began and man was set on earth, the triumph of the wicked was always brief? the triumph of the wicked is almost over now because it will be swallowed up by My Triumph; just like the staff of Aaron that I turned into a snake and swallowed up Pharaoh's snakes, in the same manner My Triumph will strike and swallow up the wicked man's triumph so that in this Triumph you will all extol My Holy Name!

then I will be among My people .... and you shall journey with Me, your God, you will walk with Me; you will walk with the One you once thought inaccessible ... you will talk1 with the One you had once put out of your mind, you will converse with My Divinity, for I, the Godhead will be present in your heart revealing, as a good counsellor, the path of Life to you; I will give your soul temperance, prudence and justice, fortitude and all that the soul needs to be arrayed with to walk among My angels and with Me; then My Kingdom on earth will be restored;2

yes, it is possible for you to see God in this life too; it is possible to contemplate Me while still on earth, yes! it is possible for you to penetrate the depths of Me, your God and all, and possess Me while still on earth;

this will be the beginning of your new life,3 for you will not know Me only by hearsay or from words and books, but in truth and by a metanoia through grace given to you by the Holy Spirit; to behold Me is life in itself since it offers you immortality ... this will be the manner I will be visiting the earth, My children;

have you now understood My mystery?"

Please no sarcasm
As a LDS (Mormon) I believe he will return and it will be as the scriptures describe, "Every knee will bend and every tongue will confess". It will be a glorious return.

In the second century, there was no defined canon at first, the earliest canon was that of Marcion the heretic.

In the fourth century there were several competing canons. Eusebius in his Church History gives us one. Origen another. The Cappadocians a third. One can tell the divergence in canons persisted into the fifth century because of the differences in the lectionaries of the ancient churches.

In the second century, most Christians after the need for a canon became clear included the Didache, the Shepherd of Hermas, 1 Clement and 1 Barnabas in the books they read. So if you think the second century church got it right and Athanasius was a heretic for defending the Trinity, why don't you read those books? Why trust the canon of a man who believed in essentially a different religion?

By the way, I'm not Roman Catholic, I'm Eastern Orthodox, and I respect and love the Roman church, the Church of England, the LCMS, the WELS, and the Continuing Anglican Churches, and the persecuted Assyrian Church of the East, Syriac Orthodox and Chaldean Catholics of Syria and Iraq, and the Greek Orthodox Antiochians in Syria. That's my church that's getting killed in Syria and Iraq right now, by the way.

There are an estimated ten verses re: the return of Christ in the NT for every one verse describing His first advent. With a 10:1 ratio, we need to consider carefully. The signs are evident worldwide and many of Jesus's predictions have come true, and recently in history.
