John 1:12 But as many as received him...

This post has some of my last post in it because I never study a verse like John 1:12 and then forget it rather it seems the spirit Son Christ in me continues the teaching for days with me. So I decided to share the rest of what I was taught by the spirit Son Christ in me.

THE WORDS-SPIRITS OF THE PROPHETS ARE SUBJECT TO THE PROPHETS

(1 Cor 14:32 KJV) And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

1 Cor 14:32 is speaking of (2 Ki 2:15 KJV) And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Eliyah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

The sons of the prophets bowed to the ground then said "The spirit-words" of Eliyah ( the prophet) doth rest on Elisha the prophet.

The spirit of Eliyah was on Elisha meaning the words of the prophet Elijah were now on Elisha the prophet.

JESUS SAID SPIRIT MEANS WORDS AND LIFE
(John 6:63 KJV) It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Because spirit means words and life all prophetic spirit-words are spiritual scripture words-spirit that are subject to the the earlier-words-spirits of other prophets that had already prophesied.

The spirit-words spoken by the prophet Elias were what the prophet John the Baptist was subject. John the Baptist as a prophet could not change the words-spirit of the prophet Elias because the prophet John the Baptist was speaking of the words-spirit of the prophet Elias.

NO PRIVATE INTERPRETATION
John the Baptist was not making a private interpretation but rather he was speaking the words-spirit spoken earlier by Israel's prophets who had the spirit Son Christ in them. (1 Pet 1:11 KJV) Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

THE PROPHET JOHN THE BAPTIST AND THE PROPHET JESUS
The prophet John the Baptist and the prophet Jesus did not interpret scriptural prophecy privately they both had the spirit of Christ in them who interpreted for them and with them as they spoke words-spirit and life.

Jesus was also a prophet = Peter preached it in (Acts 3:23 KJV) And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.

Jesus was anointed at about age 30 with the spirit Son Christ =(Luke 3:22 KJV) And the Holy Ghost = spirit Son Christ descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

(Luke 3:22 KJV) And the Holy Ghost( spirit Son Christ) descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased

JOHN THE BAPTIST
Jesus said of John the Baptist=(Luke 7:28 KJV) For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.

Jesus said (Mat 11:14 KJV) And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.

John the Baptist was the words-spirit of Elias which was for to come, just as the words-spirit of Eliyah rested on or came on the prophet Elias.

John Baptist never interpreted scripture privately because he had the spirit Son Christ in him from his mothers womb =Luke 1:15 KJV) For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.
John Baptist had the spirit Son Christ in him and it was the spirit-words of the spirit Son Christ who gave the words that all the true prophets of Israel spoke.

The believer today has the spirit Son Christ in them and they are subject to the spirits-words of the prophets and because of the spirit-words of Christ in them therefore they are never alone or in private to make any private interpretation of the words-spirit of scripture.

(Heb 13:5 KJV) Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

(Psa 139:8 KJV) If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

CHRIST IN ME A GENTILE
(Col 1:27 KJV) To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is CHRIST IN YOU, the hope of glory:

A believer is never alone nor can a Christ taught believer ever privately interpret any scripture.

THE SPIRIT-WORDS OF THE SPIRIT SON CHRIST TEACH AND GUIDE THE BORN AGAIN BELIEVER
(John 14:26 KJV) But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you

Peter in 2 Peter 1:19-21 is speaking to those Jews who were not yet born again but yet who thought their private interpretation was valid without their being born again. Peter knew such Jews were no longer guide or taught by the spirit Son Christ-the Holy Ghost who is like the wind.

spirit Son Christ
A made up phrase. Romans 8:9 makes a casual reference to the phrase, it doesn't build a theology around it like you have.

This question is directed to all our Catholic friends. But of course, all are welcomed to reply. Although my evangelical friends may disagree, my understanding of how they take this verse is that they are first taught that we are saved by "receiving Jesus as Savior" (typically in the form of a prayer, but not always) from a preacher or friend, and then with that teaching they look at John 1:12 only as a confirmation to the paradigm that has already been instilled. I speak only for my own experience, & I do not intend this as a universal statement. I personally have never met an evangelical who looked at John 1:12 and did not automatically conclude that this meant "receiving Jesus as savior", based on prior learning. I do not mean this derogatorally. Just what I've seen. I am open to being corrected if this is not the case.

My understanding from looking at the greek is that this scripture is much more basic, referring only to those who decided to take Jesus seriously, believe that God sent Him, and that he was worth paying attention to, with no immediate reference to salvation.
John 10:19 The Jews who heard these words were again divided. [20] Many of them said, “He is demon-possessed and raving mad. Why listen to him?” [21] But others said, “These are not the sayings of a man possessed by a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?”

John 9:31-33 We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly person who does his will. [32] Nobody has ever heard of opening the eyes of a man born blind. [33] If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.”

Mark 1:21-22 They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach. [22] The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law.

To my understanding, for Catholics salvation is not an event but a process.

What is your take on the phrase "But as many as received him..."?

Thank you.

But as many as received him are those who discern his teachings and methods of healing. Churches don't bother teaching Jesus method of healing or forgiveness.

kjv4me2you (Prov 30:5 KJV) Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Nothing that YHWH-YaH says is a casual phrase.

(Gal 4:6 KJV) And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

In Gal 4:6 we read that "because we are sons", God hath sent forth "the Spirit of his Son."

Who is the spirit Son in Gal 4:6 if not the spirit Son Christ?

God a Spirit ( John 4:28 ) and the Father of spirits (Heb 12:9) sent forth His spirit Son ( Gal 4:6) into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

The spirit son Christ in our hearts makes it possible for us to cry Abba Father.

(Rom 8:15 KJV) For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

(Rom 8:16 KJV) The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

(Rom 8:17 KJV) And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with CHRIST; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Is this not the same spirit Son Christ in Rom 8:17 that God sent into our hearts in Gal 4:6?

(Rom 8:18 KJV) For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

(Rom 8:19 KJV) For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

COL 1:27 CHRIST IN THE BELIEVER IS THE SPIRIT SON OF GOD in GAL 4:6
(Col 1:27 KJV) To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is CHRIST IN YOU, the hope of glory:

This post could be longer, but for the time being here is why I used the words "the spirit Son Christ" in post #81.

I agree with your first sentence. I disagree with your second sentence. Our church has been teaching that and I'm sure there are others.
