He's on recording it's serious and dangerous but encouraged the public to act like it was nothing. That lead to America having an unacceptably high infection and death rate (not to mention the other destruction it does).

No one really knew how bad it was.
He was getting mixed messages. Some scientists wanted herd immunity. Others wanted shelter in place.
It was a tough call then and it still would be a tough call if it happens again.

On one hand you mess up the economy and on the other hand people could die.
When the economy is bad - people die too.
In retrospect you could say many things.
Trump admitted - it was a tough time and he had to make tough calls not knowing right or wrong.

Trump also said he saw satellite imagery of body bags around Wuhan lab or surrounding area. We don't know what else he knew.
China lied about it and hid it. China didn't let any WHO inspectors to go in. Why not blame China? The real culprit who lied about it?
Blame China before blaming Trump.
If China revealed the truth then Trump would have been forced to reveal the truth to the public.
Put the blame where it belongs!
