Jon Huntsman - Great Again?

Back in the 2012 Republican Presidential Primaries, I was supporting Jon Huntsman Jr. for President, not Romney. About two years prior to those Primaries, Sen. John McCain, who I cannot stand, started promoting Huntsman as a possible Presidential candidate - but after that idea got floated, Huntsman figured "why not?" and made some "big declaration" that sort of stabbed McCain in the back, something about he was seeing a fundamental shift among the base that leaned "to a new directiun" and that it was going to be the future of the Party, about that time Huntsman started attracting donations from the base to run. He was almost "psychic" in foreseeing what later became Trump.

So he dropped his U.S. Ambassador to China gig to run for President. Because he sort of stabbed McCain in the back, the Republican establishment which was rigging primaries didn't like him per say, Huntsmsn then came in third in New Hampshire, dropped out and endorsed Romney.

Endorsing Romney didn't endear him too much with this "new direction" thingy among the base. But he wasn't getting help from the establishment, and keep in mind as a former Governor of Utah, Huntsman was a Mormon but he had beat an alternative path from the "Mormon League" but after losing thought he might make amends with that genre as possible political capital for the future.

But that future never came.

In 2016 he was an early supporter of Donald Trump, much to the shock of the establishment but Huntsman always goes rouge if he can.

He didn't get involed in the attempted coup de-etat by a set of elitist Mormons to take over the "conservative" and "right wing AM radio" venue during 2016 when the nuts like Glen Beck aligned with NeverTrump - these ilk totally failed in the coup de-etat and were delusional to even think they could but they thought "God is on our side" thus somehow it would happen but didn't happen.

So Jon, even though the former Mormon Utah Gov was early supporting Trump and endeared himself to Nationalists up until he stabbed Trump in the back over that dirty mouth audio-video of Trump from more than a decade ago hit the MSM to try and destroy Trump so Jon removed his endorsement of Trump.

But the smear of Trump laughably failed, no one cares, then Jon realized it was short sighted to unendorse. Folks started to call him a rat, but Jon Huntsman still has a great future ahead even though he has been only on first base for years.

Actually, the Nationalists never did really turn on Jon because even as a Mormon he held his own against the coup de-etat - he kept his popularity even as a backstabber because folks figured "hey, he's always been a backstabber, but it's just political expediency, and he still wears those totally cool yellow and pink Trump ties that became his hallmark - so... why not Secretary of State?"

EXACTLY. I think Jon would be a GREAT SoS! So I sent emails and tweets to Trump, Jon Huntsman should be on his cabinet or SOMETHING because folks still LOVE HIM a lot!

So what do you think? Jon Huntsman on "the list"? I know, I know - he has his sights on Hatche's Senate seat.

But Jon is PERFECT when it comes to international stuff, and he has been going around supporting Trump again on TV and such. And a lot of Nationalists like him.

I didn't read your post but I just heard Jon Huntsman was under Trump's consideration. Jon Huntsman is great as Democrat and Republican as far as I know and my two cents is that he would be awesome at anything with Donald Trump!

Then again, maybe I am just thinking he is good on issues. What ability does he have to find insight to governing problems?

Jon has a deep understanding of international affairs that can help Trump who is more domestic in focus.

Trump wants to focus on keeping jobs, expanding on that, and to start up his infrastructure projects which intially will be government inspired. And also securing the borders (Canadian and Mexican).

On the international level, Trump only really wants to focus on ISIS and is interested in alliances with Russia and India on this.

But he doesn't have a bigger perspective that Jon has. Jon is a huge "Asia fan" - meaning he has a huge interest in China, India, Vietnam, Japan, for that matter all of Asia, Indian subcontinent, South East Asia. He actually speaks Chinese fluently and appears on Chinese tv etc. He also knows some Hindi and other languages.

On the international front he would be a huge Ace in the hole for Trump.

Let me just say that I am Jon Huntsman's biggest fan, bar none. I love, love, love him, and had totally expected him to run for President in 2016. When he didn't, I was super bummed out. I never was crazy about Romney and actually voted for Obama instead of Romney. But I would have voted for Huntsman regardless of who he was running against. I'd like to see him in Trump's cabinet or as an ambassador or something. But Trump is such a loser, I can't imagine he'd pick someone as sane as Huntsman.

Exactly, we completely agree for once, except I think Trump is not a loser and would pick him. Please Trump pick Jon Huntsman. He is best!

I figure I better show some gratitude for Trump's pick, the former Exxon Mobil CEO! Exxon Mobil has been a favorite among environmentalists for a long time, yet they are seriously whatever the Republicans want from them with him.
