It was a bit rich having Yusaf Islam/Cat Stevens on singing "Peace Train". That was the best they could dig up? A man who supported the fatwa against Salmon Rushdie and this is somehow about "restoring sanity"? Oh... the irony...

Jon Stewart's rally has been taken by the press as a political rally for the left, forgetting that Stewart lampoons politicians on both sides and the news media for their extremist behavior. George Will has been touting the idea that Stewart is against partisanship, perhaps because he fails to distinguish between extremist rhetoric and partisanship. Dick Armey has claimed that Stewart himself engages in extremist villification of people, perhaps because Armey sees that as normal behavior and doesn't know any other way to behave. The rally was about restoring civility to the political discourse, not destroying partisanship or promoting a particular brand of extremism. It is not surprising that people like Will and Armey don't get the point, but it is sad.

I went and it was an AWESOME rally!! The estimates of 60,000 - 80,000 people are so far off that no one should take them seriously. And I don't see why people can't figure out what the cause was. We as American's have alot of differences, but that doesn't mean we can't work together.
I'm really not surprised Fox ignored it though. The attendance dwarfed Beck's rally, and Stewart only attacked the news media, and both sides of it.

I've always enjoyed Jon Stewart. Even as a liberal, he does his best to 'critique' people from every end of the political spectrum.

As for Fox News...don't get me started. Ignoring the fact that they are the most biased new source on cable television, they don't even represent true conservatism. They consistently ignore and mock actual conservatives like Ron Paul, while simultaneously pushing the neocon agenda. In other words, they pander to the imbeciles of America.

I was helping one of my friend's dad do a roofing job so I could make money to go. Although I did find out after the fact that the director of a play I'm in was wanting to go, and would liked to have went with me if she would have known I was going. She was even gonna help with gas and she has family in the area that would have let us sleep there, rather than sleeping in my car at a rest park like I done.

I tried to go, but the Metro was ridiculous. Long story short, I wouldn't have gotten there until at least 2:00, so I ended up going home and watching it on TV. From what I hear, I had a much better view there anyway. I love all the signs. My favorites are "My opinions change with new information" and "Have you seen my keys?".

It's not true that Fox News ignored it, though. An hour or two after it ended, I was flipping channels, and checked out Fox News. They were doing some sort of "Here's what's happening today" show, and they talked with a correspondent who had been there. It was actually very fair coverage; I was surprised. They just said what happened, and showed a couple of clips, amazingly with no real bias.
