Im starting to think in conspiratorial terms that if something delicious and cheap outdoes the more expensive alternative, then it's time to demonize it.

Look how long they been around and just now they determine it's suddenly bad for you?

Give me a break.

Whats next? A campaign to outright ban the stuff for sake of the children?

It might not be the noodles. The article suggests that foam packing could be the culprit,
so avoiding that type might be best. Also, I never added the oil that came with some types.

Hmmm....it might be an anti-Pastafarian conspiracy!

What? Those things (the seasoning packets more specifically) are loaded with sodium and they're just now figuring out they're bad for you? The styrofoam, as the article mentioned, probably is at least partially to blame because they didn't mention regular instant noodles like spaghetti or macaroni. I also find it very odd the article didn't mention the sodium content.

Of course two minute noddles are bad for you, but I only eat them occasionally. Fry up some chicken and add some veggies to it and you have yourself a pretty decent meal for little effort.

It looks like a little "marsearch" to me (sorry, I couldn't come up with a better contraction of marketing and research  ). It's a relatively minor bit of research on its own but hits a couple of targets for getting some non-scientific media coverage, significantly getting the organisations involved named in that coverage. Of course it wouldn't surprise me if there was some hidden funding from Korean rice producers involved too.

As for the actual research, based on the abstract it didn't seem to be anything like as focused on instant noodles as it tries to make out but was a wider reflection of diets " rich in meat, soda, fried food, and fast food including instant noodles". There is no surprise that will correlate with negative health outcomes but I see no scientific rationale to focus on the instant noodles, especially when they've not even tried to identify what's actually bad about them beyond a bit of conveniently scare-worthy speculation (e.g. references to chemicals in packaging rather than, as has already been pointed out here, the high salt content).

You didn't know that?

It is common sense! Everyone knows that!

Water gains weight then all that weight goes when the water comes out.

You can get hit by a car while taking a walk, you can get hit by a car while driving a car, you can hit by a car while riding on a city bus. Solution: Stay at home. It is rarer that a car will crash into your house.

:D
