Welcome. You'll fit right in. We have a good population of Hindus here and every other person talks about politics. There's not a day goes by without some Trump mixed with the bunch. I haven't came across anyone here (been here a good while :( ) who act like teachers here. There is a seeker's forum to talk with peers in similar shoes as you. But you'll meet a lot of evangelize who kinda act like them. They don't hurt, but....
Thanks for the information. I love discussing with people who have different beliefs than me but who are serious about their relationship with God. Nobody wins an argument, but often I learn things that help me with my own spiritual journey. Also, like you, I have issues with small print. I wear progressive bi-focal glasses and frequently have to enlarge the screen print size just to read things without getting eye strain. o_O

Welcome to RF :)
Thanks for the welcome. I see that you are Baha'i inspired. I have a lot of memories of Baha'is that I knew back the the 1980s when I was a student at French immersion school in Quebec. Several of them at the time were refugees from Iran who came to Canada following the revolution and regime change there. I participated in a number of Friday evening Firesides and it was great. I also read some of the Baha'i books and learned a lot of things. However, in the end I felt that this was not my path, but I have wonderful memories of these great people.

Greetings!

Serious discussions....here?
Best wishes on that.
Meanwhile, enjoy the free evening snack in the staff lounge.

Thanks for the warning and the pastry buffet. Looks so good I might start trying to eat my computer screen.

Hm. Funny, I got bi-focals couple of weeks ago. I usually wear them when I'm on the computer mostly. Forward for double vision distance and down for sharpness and clarity.

Welcome to RF.

To me, Ramana Maharshi is someone I learned about in the past couple of years. I just recently watched a video of his life with David Godman as one of the primary narrators. He struck me as one who reached the goal of life and like the sun, warmed the hearts of those who came in contact with him.
Thanks for the welcome. I love your description of Ramana. In my opinion, David Godman has done a wonderful job making the teachings and legacy of Ramana Maharshi available to the Western mind. Another great modern Hindu saint that I revere is Anandamayi Ma, with similar teachings but perhaps a little less intellectual and with a huge focus on Love and Devotion.

Jesus is the dove, satan loves to feed the pigeons.
Thanks for the welcome, but I don't quite understand your message. Maybe, well . . . Jesus as the dove, perhaps, since doves are often considered to be messengers from the spiritual realm. Also, they were used as sacrificial offerings by people operating a low budget who couldn't afford to pay for lambs. As for Satan feeding pigeons - yikes!! Watch out birds, you better fly away fast because he's probably trying to hand you some poison !!!!! :dizzy::dizzy:

Can you have a word with the pigeons that sit on my TV aerial all the time - upsets the quality so much it drives me mad (der than usual)! Anyway, welcome to the pleasure dome. :D
Mock Turtle, I could have a word with your TV aerial pigeons -- however it is doubtful that they will listen to me. Perhaps the best way to negotiate this situation is for you to subscribe to cable TV.

No, I haven't, but I've heard very good reports about this book. Suppose I should put it on my reading list.
Brief summary is that it's a personal narration of looking for Gurus, and always somehow coming back to the sage at Aunachala. But pretty decent writing. I read it as an option from a shelf in a Bed and Breakfast property we stayed in ... once upon a time.

Thanks for your friendly comments.
I would like to point if I may that as a liberal, I too came in time to feel that the Baha’i path was not for me. But I do like some of the principles on a very general level, hence the reason I call myself “baha’i inspired” even though i’m not technically a Baha’i these days.
Kind Regards :)
