And let God take all the credit in the eyes of believers? No thanks. Then we need to get off our backsides.

I honestly doubt this. You would only be humoring or patronizing me. Secretly you would still believe that God was the one responsible for any good that came of any action I took. I have seen this sort of disposition many times before, and based on your postings on this site, I very much believe you are exactly the type to hold it.Well, if you change your mind, I am happy to give you all the accolades.

You are too kind, really. (Or perhaps you're the other kind...)I agree with that last sentence.
You got that part right, that is my biggest concern.THow else can we be united as one people on one planet if we do not appreciate the efforts people make towards unity and peace? This OP is founded on such ideas and actions.

How I wish that everybody would just memorize the words of Carl Sagan in this wonderful passage from his book, "Pale Blue Dot." I've loved it for years. And I have memorized it.
I would accept that, as a very useful way for us to think, as a start. Following that, we need to recognize the wonderful diversity of mankind, rather than viewing "differences" as somehow threatening (or immoral). That is a good presentation indeed.
It is great to memorise such inspirational material and more importantly practice it.
Like, "The earth is but one country and mankind its citizens".

Yes, you are right. Normally, I think of idealists as have benevolent ideals, but as you’ve pointed out there are ideals which are wrong and harmful.Nothing necessarily or innately wrong with
idealism, maybe.
But the greatest villains of the 20th century were idealists, idealist ideologies.
Communism. Idealistic!
Nazusm
Japan's plans
Pol Pot
The USA has doneca lot of its " ideals" to the world.
Name a political villain who is or was not an idealist.
