Kali books?

So I dunno if this should go in resources, but I felt like you guys would be the better source for this.

I'm looking for books (in English if you please) on Kali. Her history, her Kaliness I guess. Everything about her. I have the Sword and the Flute which is fun and all. But I want to devour more. Call it an intellectual appetite.
I'm currently eyeing The Twenty Four Aspects of Kali on book depository and usually I'd go by Goodreads scores to decide whether or not to buy. But it's too niche. So I don't know.

So any recommendations? Tantra books also appreciated.

“Kali the mother” by Sister Nivedita is the only one that comes to mind. Then there is a book on Durga as well called “The supreme mother goddess Durga”. Additionally try searching for some Shakta Upanishads.

That is interesting: what is it that fascinates you about Kali as she is not part of the Tridevi?

I don't know, I've just always been drawn to her even as a little kid watching badly dubbed Bollywood VHS

By the same author as Sword and Flute I recommend the Mahavidyas and Hindu Goddesses books that he wrote. The mahavidya book goes into a lot of detail about each mahavidya and it's fascinating. Try the Devi Bhagavatam as well, it's a good purana but the English is a bit unfortunate.

Bookmarking this.

And as to earlier query of why follow Kali.
My first initiation to Hinduism is with Maa Kali.

Having spiritual experiences when listening to devotional songs was something not to be taken lightly. Especially if it happens on a repeatable basis.

But not wanting to scare the heck out of my little social circle I have shown devotion to Durga as well. Which I strongly feel my colleagues have a part in considering the role they wanted me to play in leadership.

Yes, we became so desperate to survive that we ended up using Hindu mythology to keep people together under harsh pressure and middle management that worked against everything good and proper. All fixed now... after a string of pujas and temple dances...

Disclaimer: these are just my experiences as they are..

There certainly is not much. To be honest, you're more likely to find Satanic literature about Kali in English than Hindu sources (which is a reason I've been called a "Hindu Satanist" before, lol). I certainly haven't read all that much about Maa Kali. Most of what I feel and express about Mother is due to my own experience and reasoning. Devotion to Kali is mainly experiential.

But I haven't seen this mentioned: https://www.amazon.com/Offering-Flowers-Feeding-Skulls-Popular/dp/0195167910

I think there is a lot of literature on Kali in Sanskrit, divided in two streams. Main-line Hinduism and Tantric Hinduism. You may find more in Tantric Hinduism which main-line Hinduism disregards or considers abhorrent, while the West laps it up.
