Kent State gun girl open carries on campus. The intolerant socialist left rears its ugly head.

Dictionary.com & Merriam Webster as "propaganda outlet".
Oh, you lefties.....Bless your heart.

I was actually referring to the Heritage Foundation as a propaganda outlet and the Webster and Dictionary.com as non-authoritative on the subject (though they are authoritative on the spelling of socialism in english I will admit).

Yes, you know better than all the lexicographers.
This is the point where I'll agree to disagree.

Have you ever used a speciliased dictionnary before? You can search the definition of socialism in a historical dictionnary or an economic dictionnary if you want. These are written by people with actual training in the relevent domains and they will provide you a definition of socialism that expands well beyond that of a usual dictionary. Trust the specialists about their specialty not the generalist whose job isn't even to explain such thing.

@Nowhere Man

"The term socialism refers to any system in which the production and distribution of goods and services is a shared responsibility of a group of people. Socialism is based upon economic and political theories that advocate for collectivism. In a state of socialism, there is no privately owned property." - Examples of Socialism

So which Democratic candidates have openly advocated for government seizure of factories and private property?
(Emphasis added by me.)

As per the cited definition, seizure of factories and private property is not necessary for something to be socialist. A publicly operated service, like, say, protection and law enforcement, would be socialist under that definition.
As @Revoltingest pointed out socialism/capitalism is a spectrum and there are no true socialist or capitalist countries.

I gather the discussion to overview...….should we be alarmed when someone carries a rifle?

We can say there are no races, eg, black, white, Asian.
Even if their are races, dang near no one is pure.
And yet people recognize their existence.
Gender has similar treatment these days.
And yet....
It's normal & useful to see Mike Tyson as a black male,
& to see Greta Thunberg as a (annoying) white female.
See where this is going relative to socialism & capitalism?

I see two possible solutions: either we handle the situation as purely relative, i.e. we stop saying "X is a socialist country" and only say "X is more socialist than Y" or we agree on (arbitrary) boundaries that define what a socialist country is. E.g. there have to be state owned means of production of goods, not only services.

What do they call it then? Why do they carry guns if they don't like them and don't think they look good/cool with them?
I will give you my opinion on open carry and concealed carry.
Open carry(other than LEO's) anywhere other than in the boondocks or a shooting event is stupid and as far as I'm concerned is basically saying "look at me"
Concealed carry is concealed and unless one is observant no one knows you are carrying. Some people are uncomfortably seeing a firearm and I respect their feelings; therefore I carry concealed.
The only time I would advocate for the open display of a firearm especially rifles is for a political message; as for example the gathering at the State Capital in Virginia.

Worked with a man from Alaska many years ago, Alaska is an open carry state. He once told me there are 2 things that are big in Alaska; guns and drinking. He then said with all those armed drunks you'd think there would be a lot more shootings. He claimed there were next to none when he grew up there. Take into account this conversation occurred in the early 1990s so things could be different now
