What if Monotheism is wrong, and there are actually many thousands of Gods?

What if I am in fact a God, but don’t know it?

What if you are in fact a God, but don’t know it?

In short, how would you know if you’re a God?

And how could you tell if someone else is one too?

Would both of your parents have to be Gods???

Also, what is the difference between a God and a non-God?

Disclaimer: don’t worry, I don’t believe that I'm a God :D

Richard Dawkins nailed this ....

“The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”

So, if you meet those criteria you could be a god.

That's just one God though, that's about Yahweh

If there are others then they could be completely different

Yahweh could be the odd one out

The others might all be really nice

Clearly, you haven't bothered to learn anything about any Gods besides the one of the Old Testament.

But thank you for blemishing yet another useful thread with your atheist rhetoric.

Because that's crazy-talk :D

In my experience, it is people who are indoctrinated into some Abrahamic religions who consider such a proposition crazy-talk.

The notion is not as far-fetched in some non-Abrahamic beliefs systems.

I don't know, that's what I want to find out :)

Sounds like a good thread topic, huh? :D

I think I started one a few years ago called "The Qualities of God." It's around here somewhere.

Oh, I know it. Even though, I prefer "Goddess". Or, if you really want so show respect, "G-ddess" will also do.

Ciao

If it's all the same to you, I'll just continue to call you Brahman. ;)

So, can I ask - do you think it's possible that you're a God?

Self deification is common in Left handed paths. I'm still learning about it as a left handed practitioner so can't say much on it.

It depends on how one defines a god and what qualities one assigns to a god.

I consider myself to be a transtheist. Gods as typically defined are irrelevant to me. In my true nature, I am none other than Brahman.

If one considers Nirguna Brahman to be God, then I am a god. But bear in mind, Nirguna Brahman is no deity, so if one of your qualifications to be a god is to be a deity, then the answer to your question above would be no.

Is that the same as saying you are somehow The Supreme Being?

The "supreme" connotation leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. "Supreme" implies hierarchy.

I am saying that in my understanding, in our true nature, all are this Absolute being. Because of Maya, most just don't realize it.
