Krishna

I second what Wannabe said. Neither is another interpretation. I mean to say that for non Vaishnava sects, Krishna could well be basically irrelevant. That isn't to show disrespect or start a fight, its just a more sectarian POV. So many will have different answers.

Is Krishna viewed as being a man who was God or as being fully God?

As Wannabe Yogi said, it depends on whom you talk to. If you talk to me ;) I will tell you that Krishna is the Supreme God who took human form to accomplish a task. And as Vinayaka said, Krishna is neither to other sects.

The most common view, across many sects, is that Krishna is purnavatara (full avatar) of Mahavishnu; who is identified with Brahman.

Here is one representation of the relationship between Krishna, Vishnu and Brahman.

Courtesy Krishnaism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I understand this as Krishna = Brahman, or Brahman = Krishna, unmanifest. Krishna/Brahman expands as Vishnu, who takes birth as the earthly manifest Krishna.

as a vaisnava I am seeing krsna as svayam bhagavan , the absolute , the supreme lord himself .as your chart depicts .
yet I am happy with purna avatara , full incarnation of maha visnu .

I am similarly happy with the veiw that krsna and siva are one and the same but only different expansions of that same supreme .

I am simply tired of the senceless divisionism .
can we not agree that we call the supreme by different names and realise him in different ways , and simply be content to glorify him by what ever form we know him by ? and rejoice that another glorifies him according to his own understanding :namaste

krsnas tu bhagavan svayam :)

That's what you see in my sig. from the Skanda Purana: Shiva is the heart of Vishnu; Vishnu is the heart of Shiva.

I am simply tired of the senceless divisionism .

I think, as primarily gauidya vaishnavas who accept the equivalence of Shiva and Vishnu, announced in the Shrimad Bhagavatam despite other possible sectarian interpolations and biased translations, we are all in agreement about the lack of need for any sort of 'senseless divisionism' which obscures realization of the Supreme 'by any other name.'
