kundalini arousal

No, Friend Kriya Yogi, I am not unsure about getting into it. I have delved into its philosophy for a few days and each day that goes by it is stronger with me. I now accept it as my path. There is something so beautiful about it, its non-sectarian and incorperates the teachings of the Gita and the Bible, the teachings of Krishna and Jesus are some of the purest teachings to have ever been spoken on earth.

But can I say that it is my religion without being initiated?

Yes you can accept it as your religion. If you believe and practice anything or all things Yogananda teaches along with Kriya Yoga it is all your religion. Kriya Yoga is the foundation but right action and living by the principles of how Yogananda taught them is the other aspects of it too.

Ok, then I accept Kriya Yoga as my Religion. Thanks Kriya Yogi!

No problem my friend, it is a direct path to God realization, and Kriya is the airplane route to him. If practiced sincerely you can find salvation in this lifetime. It is my Guru and all the other Guru's promise. It is God's promise.

Best article I read on this was in Spiritual Emergency-When Personal Transformation becomes a crisis. In the Book is an article by Lee Sannella called 'Kundalini: Classical and Clinical which looks at the role of awakening the kundalini in western eyes

I hope this is the right forum. Can anyone give insight into diagnosing premature kundalini arousal and the best way for someone to get back balanced and focused? Thank you all for sharing!
For the second time in my life (last week), I accidentally raised Kundalini though my Ida Nadi during meditation.

Symptoms:

1. A prickly heat feeling under my left shoulder blade, radiating to the base of my skull and into my jaw.

2. A feeling of 'fullness' and 'pressure' in my head, often resulting in headaches and distorted vision.

3. A surreal feeling of depersonalisation and detachment, including visions and hallucinations, which would be enjoyable, if they didn't cause so much discomfort.

4. Loss of appetite (food all tasting the same) and being unable to find a comfortable position to sleep/relax in.

5. Thoughts and emotions all seeming to 'occur at once' and be so indistinguishable, I must sift through them to find any meaning.

6. Being hyper alert/vigilant, so much so, I am constantly on edge, fully realising that I shouldn't be like that.

I am still trying to find the best way out of it, but I know the only way, is to stop meditating and doing pranayama for a while and to focus externally on nature, experiencing life's 'simple pleasures', go for some accupuncture and healing, detoxify my mind and body, and allow the problem to right itself given enough time.

I've read extensively about Physio Kundalini Syndrome (PKS), and that concerning the apparent adverse symptoms, it is recommended to cease meditation by the medical people covering this area, but the question remains...how does one know if the Kundalini arousal is premature?

In my own case, as a result of ongoing meditation accompanied in time with an incremental increase in frequency and intensity of 'strange' phenomenal and noumenal occurrences, one day my mind was literally 'blown' away with the intensity of light and apprehension of another dimension of reality. The old reality of mind in which I had lived in relative social harmony with the world was still there, but now minus the social harmony, for the distraction of the 'new' was overwhelmingly more 'real'. My mind was in terrible pain as it seemed to be running at an order of magnitude higher speed and activity than it was before and it was impossible to stop or regulate.

My family soon had me off to the doctors and I was diagnosed as Bi-polar, which was just how my mind was...having to live in this world while being subject to another reality...it was a psychic nightmare that continued for a few decades, but on the upside...the insights into what and who I really am in the context of Cosmos were such that it was all worth it...though I would never ever suggest practices to anyone that were meant to arouse the kundalini.

So who is to say my kundalini arousal was premature? I took no drugs, I had never heard of kundalini before arousal, I only meditated in private...so here I was living in this most difficult mental state with only one goal in mind...union with the source which would end my struggle. When I did finally find out about PKS about 12 years on, I could confirm the symptoms, but the idea of stopping meditation was not an option for me..I had been through so much mental pain and survived it....my destiny was to see it through to the very end regardless...

Go out of the room. Be careful about cardiac symptoms. Did you perspire?
It is not cardiac. I had stress tests and halter monitor done a few months ago.

I actually just returned from the doctor, who did a blood pressure test, and it was very low.

The doctor now thinks I may have thyroid problems, so I have to go for blood tests.

When the kundalini is aroused, there is a tremondous increase in energy, manifesting as sexual energy.

Meditation, tapas or austerity as stated by Krishna in the Gita, and a strong physical body built by hatha yoga or any exercise regimen or sports, will help you to sail through the waves of increased energy levels, and help channel the sexual energy to heightened consciousness.

One of the reasons, many yogis fall in the path, is that they are unable to successfully channel the sexual energy into heightened consciousness , due to lack of meditation, tapas and a strong body.

Kundalini arousal happens among the followers of other religions too, especially in worship . Worship of God in any manner, is all bhakti yoga, and hence arousal of Kundalini can take place in the worshipper who is sincere and deep in love.

Many worshippers , after a period of intense worship and love, get a reaction subsequently due to arousal of kundalini , manifesting as intense sexual energy. Many gets confused due to the strong sexual feelings, indulge in hedonistic activities and get a guilty complex after the activities.

This guilt is mainly because of ignorance of this process of the Kundalini, which is aroused after intense yogic activities, which includes worship of God too.

This is not just in worship but in all activities that are yogic in nature and has the potential to arouse the kundalini. As Aurobindo himself stated, " All life is yoga."

Many artists have a highly sexual nature, mainly because their kundalini is aroused during periods of intense creative work.

Meditation, a disciplined lifestyle and a good physical regimen can help to transform the heightened sexual energy to greater levels of consciousness.
