Lady wants Breaking Bad toys out of Toy-R-Us

So this woman is pushing to have Breaking Bad action figurines removed from the store Toys-R-Us. Says they are inappropriate to have in the store based upon what the show is about.

AOL.com Article - Mom wants Toys R Us to pull 'Breaking Bad' toys

Now, I'm pretty sure that Toys-R-Us, at least to my knowledge, isn't just a "children's store", but a toy store. Adults buy toys too. They collect. There are collectible action figure toys for all kinds of movies and shows that are not geared for children. There are sections in these stores specifically for those things.

Simple solution for this lady, and any who think like her...don't let your kid go in that section, don't buy your kid those toys, tell them those toys are not kid toys, and be done with it. You're the parent. Grow up and act like it.

Company can sell what they want. If lady doesn't like then shop somewhere else.
The company has the right not to sell these products and she has the right to send them a letter asking them to consider doing so too.

Of course the company that makes these figures would have the right (kind of) to get their PR company to send a fake letter from an "angry Mom" (cc'd to a couple of friendly "journalists") because all publicity is good publicity. Not saying that happened but I'm not sure why else it would be considered news.

If everyone complained about stuff they personally disagree with all the time, the world would only have complainers. Yes, go shop somewhere else.

However .... if enough people complain, then stores always do something, because the bottom line is always profit.

I've got to disagree with you on this one, Draka, and I'm usually pretty liberal about these kinds of things. I absolutely loved "Breaking Bad." It was probably my all-time favorite show ever. My husband and I didn't get in on it when it first aired, so we ended up getting it from Netflix this past March. We watched all 64 episodes in 3 weeks. We couldn't get enough of it.

The show, however, was definitely inappropriate for kids, and I believe the toys are, too. Parents should know that their kids can't buy action figures of this sort in a toy store. I can't imagine any responsible parent either letting their kids watch the show or recreate it with accurate-looking toys. If adults want to collect this stuff, then let them buy it somewhere that doesn't sell to kids. Personally, it I can't even fathom an adult who would want to go buy a Walter White action toy, complete with fake crystal meth. That is just about the last thing in the world I'd want to put out good money for. But to each his own.

These toys are also available in other stores as well though. Kmart, Walmart, and so on. There are many toys that are based upon shows and movies that are not kid appropriate and that's why they are in adult sections and have age range labels on them.

People may not like the idea of Ouija boards, but you can buy them in Toys-R-Us (whole other thing given I don't feel they are a toy at all, but there you go).

Parents are the responsible entities here, not the store. If you don't know or control what your kids are buying, that's on you, not the store.

I bet she didn't complain about TWD toys right next to them. Whiners.

Although I personally think those toys are in bad taste, you are absolutely correct that Adults ,as well as kids, go there to buy toys, and collectables. If parents do not want their kids playing with those toys then they should keep them away from them and not purchase them.Toys r us also carries Quija which is basically a Quija board.A spirit board sold at a toy store.

It keeps coming down to this inane idea that other people/businesses/entities/media and so on are somehow responsible for the raising of OUR children. Since fricken when? When did parents suddenly not be parents anymore and that be okay? We have all manner of ways in which to decide what our kids can and cannot watch (tv parental controls - use them), what they can access on our computers (parental locks and limits are there - learn how to use them), what they can own (who is the parent here?). People need to stop relying on others to parent their children.

I just can't get past the idea that there are actually Breaking Bad toys. And that there are people who buy them.

That part has always kinda bugged me as I hold a Ouija board to be a divination tool. A handmade "witch board" would never be found in such a place, but because a mass produced one put out by Parker Brothers exists it is a "game" and marketed and sold as such. Does not mean that the tool cannot be blessed and used the exact same way though. I digress. Some view it as "just a game", it is marketed and sold that way, so it is there.

Well, I feel the same about Duck Dynasty and all the crap that's come from that show, and the fact that that is even a show. To each their own I guess.

Poor sales will kill the toy line off eventually. Stuff like this wouldn't stop me from letting my kids run around Toys R Us, it is a bit annoying though.

Pretty boring game.
