Legalized marijuana

I just wish that they developed a quick way to test drivers for it. There is no reliable way to determine if someone has had too much that I know of.
The saliva test they have now in belgium is total bs.

Yes, it pretty accurately tests to see if someone smoked pot or not.
Problem however is that you also will still test positive long after the effects have waned and you sober up again.
Smoke tonight and you'll still test positive tomorrow. Sometimes even the day after that also.

It also doesn't test for amount. Just for "presence".

Marijuana is fundamentally different from alcohol. Marijuana is also problematic due to its unpredictability.

What We Know About Marijuana
"Mode of marijuana use (e.g., consuming edibles or products with high THC concentration can have delayed or unpredictable effects and increases the risk of overdose or poisoning)"

Why Are the Effects of Marijuana So Unpredictable?

Effects of cannabis - Wikipedia
"Different plants of the genus Cannabis contain different and often unpredictable concentrations of THC and other cannabinoids and hundreds of other molecules that have a pharmacological effect,[2][3] so that the final net effect cannot reliably be foreseen."
I've never heard of anyone "overdosing" from cannabis, ever, anywhere.

I was talking to a 60 yr old fella today who has smoked pot all his life. Hey grows his own but he recently started buying some pot from a dispensary. He said since he has been buying some, what he grows doesn't do much for him at all anymore because the pot he has been getting from the dispensary is genetically modified.
Said he doesn't know if that's a good thing or bad thing because its easier to become depended on.

Thoughts??
It would help me to know how to maximize the positive benefits of legal weed. Its legal now, but I have heard that it can help people get along better socially. How do we use it to improve society? What is its unlocked potential? Can it help resolve political conflicts and decrease court cases? What about marital conflicts? What about...other problems? Does it have a use that transcends pleasure and pain?

What about in religion? Can it help?

If MJ were legal, what would cops be able
to pretend to smell to justify a search?
I guess it'll have to be imaginary alcohol.

You are not clarifying anything.
Do you have a point?

What does it mean to "overdose on pot"?

Back in my college days we at times had what we called "pot parties".
The amount of pot being smoked then was just insane.

But again, I have never heard of anyone "overdosing" on pot. I don't even know what it means, nor do I know what you mean by it.
I asked multiple times now...

Why don't you just clarify what you mean?

Smoking so much that one falls asleep for 12 hours straight?
Having the munchies so hard that you eat that much junk food that you have diarrea the next day?
What?

"What does it mean to "overdose on pot"

IMO its equal to drinking too much to where you can't function normally.

I've heard of "going green." Perhaps that's what was meant? I don't know.
You're not going to die from a marijuana overdose, I know that much.

Bad comparison.

You can drink enough alcohol to kill yourself in a single sitting.

That is not possible with cannabis.

"There is no experimental evidence to determine the lethal dose in humans, but the dose that kills animals ranges from 40 mg/kg to 130 mg/kg intravenously."

Overdosing on alcohol means to take in so much alcohol that your liver and / or other body functions / organs get fried and it becomes potentially fatal, requiring hospitalization and all kinds of emergency treatment.

Once I am drunk (after more then 3 glasses) I am in no way in a potentially fatal state nor do I require any sort of hospitalization or treatment, yet can't function normally.

tbh, pot has never put me in a state where I couldn't function normally.
I was stoned / high for sure. But never to a point where I no longer had "control" over my body for example (not being able to walk straight, for instance).

I really don't need to empty a bottle of whisky to get in such a state. A couple of glasses will do.
A full 24 hours of pretty much non-stop smoking though... nope.

You don't have to die for it be an overdose. IMO a person who drinks until they can't walk, talk or function properly, has drank too much,, overdosed himself on alcohol.

Yes, I was not clarifying anything at all. Just like your post. You ask what it means to "overdose on pot". Which is precisely the point. You said you never heard of anyone overdosing on pot. So you must define that somehow. I simply pointed out that that definition, whatever it is, is probably too narrow. So I will ask the question back to you. Why don't you just clarify what you mean?

Found this....

"Signs and Symptoms of Marijuana Overdose

While rare, a marijuana overdose is still possible in some cases. An overdose could have an impact mentally, affect the heart, and lead to pale skin. Signs and symptoms of marijuana overdose might include:1,2

  • Extreme anxiety or panic attacks.
  • Psychotic reactions, in which someone loses touch with reality or becomes paranoid, sometimes in the form of hallucinations, delusions, or a loss of personal identity.
  • Decreased judgment, perception, and coordination that can lead to injuries or even death.
  • A fast heart rate, chest pain, or heart attack.
  • Uncontrollable shaking or seizures.
  • Pale skin color.
  • Unresponsiveness.
  • Sudden high blood pressure with headache.
When symptoms are severe, get medical attention—call 911 or drive to the nearest emergency room—to ensure that the person overdosing is monitored for complications and dangerous side effects."
