There are many,
many unanswered questions in the article which does not constitute a conclusion of "they got away with it, society turned a blind eye because the couple was lesbian".
Unanswered questions like:
- Were the authorities alerted to signs of abuse prior to the death of the child?
- Did other members of society come forward indicating they saw signs of the abuse but were hesitant to act?
- Were the authorities ever called to the residence prior to the incident; and if so, how did they respond?
- If any of the above are answered "yes", are there similar incidents involving parents of different orientation where the authorities reacted differently; and if so, is there enough of these incidents to indicate a pattern?
- Were the authorities involved prior to the death of the child?
- Are there similar incidents involving children of straight parents; and are there similarities between those cases and this case of the authorities making the same mistakes?
In short, this article does not substantiate the conclusions suggested by the alarmists. The alarmists may actually be correct; that the Crown is hesitant to act due to "political correctness"; and if the alarmists are correct in their conclusion, I would suggest that it falls upon the alarmists to prove their case an change the system. If the alarmists, however, can not prove their case, then it stands to reason that the alarmists are nothing more than fearmongers; and it benefits both children and families to ignore them until such time as they can prove their allegation.
