Let's be honest about racism

It's also not one-sided, we haven't been saints to our close cousins the Sami, forcing protestant Christianity on them and trying to make them speak our language just as had been done to us.

Country has been nice for some time, our rise was compared to Japan after the wars...

We've managed to get our crime rates low and education was very high, but education is now being sacrificed by politicians.

It was still in 1950s encyclopedias in Sweden that we were called "mongols". There are still jokes about this and some are very sensitive about it. You can find "white supremacists" still arguing if Finns are whites or some kind of "degenerate" race, European aborigines who got dominated. Many Finns are of course ignorant of this nowadays and think we're just Europeans because we joined the European union...

Our language is still not official in Scandinavian co-operation, in fact the non-Finnish just voted against our language last year. The rest of the Scandis speak related languages so they don't want to "lower themselves" to our level. So although the racism is not talked about they still think us "low class" although our cultures are today much closer. So the treatment disparity is not all gone.
Those filthy lutefisk & surstromming munchers!

Ha! They've not lost all their past Finnishness then. :)
LOL! I gotta tell ya a cute story.

One of my close friends is Finnish and he has a beautiful sauna that we were using one evening, and after steaming ourselves we would go outside for a bit, drink some beer (gotta hydrate, ya know), then go back in for another round of steam.

At one point, his teenage daughter drove into the yard as we were outside and she walked towards us, and I panicked! I didn't know what to do because we were in da buff. So, I just took the cue from my friend and just stood there as she came and talked with us, but the thing that surprised me is that she didn't care one iota by all indications. I certainly wasn't used to that, so my sweat level definitely increased until she left.
