let's talk for a moment why prophets make no sense

Ouroboros

Coincidentia oppositorum
I used to belong to a very charismatic evangelical church a long time ago. Our pastor considered himself a prophet and spoke in tongues and interpreted his own glossolalia into prophetic words. The whole church (us included) thought he was a prophet sent by God. I learned with time my mistake and do not consider him a spokesperson for God anymore. It's easy to be fooled by charismatic and dominant people. Persons who not only think they know better than you do, but exert certain vocal power to enforce the idea into everyone else as well that he/she is better than them. Prophets tend to be very self-centered, believing that they're "special", more special than everyone else, and that God only speak to them. Instead of "beware of false prophets", I think it should be "beware of prophets" in general. And this applies to the ones in the past as well. Ancient or new, it's the same thing.

i think that to find a common shared purpose in all religions...
Sorry not hearing from you an in depth study of the different religions; hearing a very surface view.... So you commenting on you're not finding similar prophetic narratives, shows a lack of study on your part.

Now admittingly each religion has a different surface narrative, with different characters, ideas of what to expect within the metaphysical realms....

Yet within an advanced understanding, you can see how they can all fit into a large jigsaw puzzle, with each professing different aspects of the whole. :innocent:

Given that I identify as both of those things, perhaps you should accept that I'm both religious and a theist and revise your understanding of those terms?
Probably it would be better for me to learn more sophisticated use of smilies.
For the benefit of the irony challenged.
