Life after death.

Life after death. What will you become? An angel? a God? A spirit? something else? How many planes of heaven are there? Do you believe that others who are not of your religion will be there to serve you?

Funny, I thought this thread might suddenly appear...........:D

What will you become?
I won't become any thing different from what I am now. I will merely change from a spirit with a body attached, to a spirit only.

An angel?
I haven't really much of a clue about Angels; the temptation is to think that Children who never quite made it through to life are angels.

A part of God, after the final incarnation

A spirit?
Yep, as already said

something else?
Can't think of anything else - apart from a spirit who helps the newly dead; I would love to help, if I could.

How many planes of heaven are there?
Don't know, and that is beyond my ken. Immaterial to me, at this stage.

Do you believe that others who are not of your religion will be there to serve you?
No way!:shout

Very good, Michel. Not suprising, my thoughts are not far off from yours. I think we will not have a physical body, but a spirit body. No race, no color, all equal. No sex, we won't have that carnal desire, but love. Know God's love. Feel his love. Be a part of his love.

Verses 50 - 113 are especially pertinant to the discussion at hand. Also, since this is from the Doctrine and Covenants, it is official LDS cannon.
All I got from that is you believe in 3 heavens, and some of you will become Gods. The rest of the questions remain unanswered, unless I missed it

OK - I think all of your answers are in there, but I'll give the reader's digest version.

All that have lived on this Earth will be ressurected - meaning that we all will have our bodies.

Since and Angel is, to us at least, merely someone who is not on this Earth at the present time, I guess you could say that all will be Angels. Some will continue to progress and become like God.

3 main divisions in Heaven, but essentially each will have their own "heaven" - the whole many mansions thing.

I do not believe that those "not of my religion" will be serving me.

I don't know what I'll become...just knowing I'll be with Jesus...face to face is truly enough for me.

I feel there is ONE heaven...there are levels of rewards....

NO...I think everyone in heaven will be SERVING HIM...ceaselessly. :D

I wouldn't know...I've never been to death before. Can I choose what I become? Like can I say "I want to be a level 15 mage with +85 protection"? Or is it like choosing a college degree, like "I want to become an environmental engineer, so I'm pursuing my B.A. from Valhalla University"? What are my options?

Quite honestly, I'm not sure. (Maize put it very well- "I have enough in this life to worry about', hehee!)

I think that I will go back to spirit- form for awhile. I might be disembodied for awhile, able to help others while maintaining what is, at the core, 'me.' After that, I believe that my spirit (still in spirit form, but now having a shape) would take on the form of my first incarnation. I would use this to journey and spend time with the friends of my soul. (If they're currently incarnated, I might appear in their dreams, as a 'ghost' or even just as a passing thought of our friendship.) I'm not sure if calling it being an 'angel' would be what this stage would be, but I think it's a fairly close comparison. I would also meet with the 'council' I see myself on in the spiritual realm, soaking up the other members' healing energies and wisdom and adding my own to the mix. When I had processed the lessons I'd learned in this incarnation, and felt ready to do so, I might decide to incarnate again. While I'm learning more about panetheism, though, my views on this might change.

Thank you, SL, you answered my questions! :D I had read that one part I quoted in another thread, where the angels would be serving Gods. Just wanted clarification on that.

So Jeff, what do you believe a spirit body is? And what kind of a body do you believe Jesus had when He was resurrected? As He pointed out to His Apostles, who were afraid because they thought they'd seen a spirit, an unembodied spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.

As I stated, I believe in a spirit body without flesh and bones. Christ's body was resurrected for a reason, but does not mean that our bodies will too. So, do you disagree with the doctrine that I posted in the other thread that states that angels will serve gods?

Would you give me the thread name and post number, please. Thanks.

The two things that I've only ever felt that were possible is one of these. That we become part of the earth. The other is that we are reborn. I think that both could happen with the same. Perhaps sometime after I die, i'll be reborn as a tree, or a plant.
