I agree. They don't seem to be as numerous as they used to be when I was a kid. June bugs are another one.
Scientists in general have documented significant global declines in insect populations. Some are more noticeable to humans than others. This is in step with global biosphere declines just in general, though there are particular concerns about insects given they overwhelmingly dominate the animal kingdom and they are so interwoven in the tapestry of terrestrial life that it doesn't exist without them as an organism group.
