Liquid water exists on Mars, boosting hopes for life there, NASA says

I don't think abiogenesis and evolution even on earth happened without being fostered by nature beings. I think science thinks too 'inside-the-box' and just thinks of life as physical plane earth-life and looks for the same constituents and conditions as earth assuming life happened by chance on earth. There is life 'outside-the-box' in my opinion and none of it occurs by the chance happenings in the way science assumes.

Personally, I don't get what the big deal is about going to live on Mars. For the foreseeable future, it will be a one way ticket. What will happen if there is a murder, for example, or a rape? It's not like they can call the cops. What are they going to do, lock up an able bodied person in a cage?

You are putting the cart way before the horse here. Let's get a sample of the water, study it, maybe send out an expedition team in the coming years.

The big deal is that if we want to ensure the continuance of the human species, we need to have redundancy on another planet. Otherwise when that big asteroid finally hits, we'll be wiped out forever. If we can settle Mars and find ways to make it habitable (it is technically within the sun's "goldilocks zone") a disaster on Earth won't end the human race.

We're a LONG way from anything meaningful in that regard, but that's why many people are excited about it. Otherwise, if we're not going to ever try to expore the galaxy, what the hell are we doing here, just waiting for the Rapture??

Let's not worry about the future politics of Solar Occupation and just admire this living planet.

Just the opposite.

Until humans can learn to get along with each other and the species and biosphere on earth, the last thing we should do is infect other planets.

Really? So, we should stop all space exploration until everyone gets along? Won't happen.

No.
But we should stop planning extended stays on possibly life supporting planets until we can deal with our own issues.
That is nothing like stopping space exploration.

Why should we stop planning, creating and dreaming? Should we stop all of that until you feel we are ready? Not a chance!

what won't happen?
everyone getting along or stopping space exploration until everyone gets along?
If we were to wait until everyone got along to explore other planets, we would never explore because there would always be conflict.

Guess that depends upon what level of "getting along" you are striving for.
I mean, there has not been a nuclear war....yet.

If God wanted us to go to Mars he would have provided flying space horses like the one Jesus will ride when he returns to Earth.
