Ooooh! That is one of my favorite movies too, followed by Rashomon and Yojimbo.

I love those Great films. I also loved Sanjuro part II of Yojimbo. You can't go wrong with Toshiro Mifune.

You need to see Burmese Harp, people seem to be forgetting about this great film. I think it's the best anti-War film ever made.

"The Lives of Others" is a fantastic movie. I also recommend "Black Book" if you liked "Others." In fact, Germany has been putting out some excellent films over the past few years. I've been on a sort of German film kick for months now. The movie "Hitler's Secretary" and one recent one about Sophie Scholls are both FABULOUS as well.

I absolutely agree. Black Book was an awesome movie. You might also want to check out "Der Untergang", "Das Experiment" and "Die Welle" if you want to continue your German high! :D
**edit**
I also recommend Das Weisse Band

First two are easy:

Pan's Labyrinth
Donnie Darko

after that, my third film really depends on my mood at the time. I'll probably go with The Crow for now though.

My top 3 change a bit from time to time, but today I have:
Aliens - always tops
Gattaca
The Shawshank Redemption
Kill Bill

I can't count.

sunsplash

Freckled
This is impossible to narrow down to 3 but off the top of my head and based on my current mood:

Raiders of the Lost Ark

The Sound of Music

Equilibrium

1) Avatar - it really is my cup of tea. Great story line, great effects, great everything.
2) Practical Magic - for the witchiness and the fact that it is a great feel good movie.
3) Disney films in general? lol I can't pick just one Disney film so I pick them all! Depending on my mood of course.
