Summer Solstice is very near and I was just wondering what everyone has planned to celebrate the day.

I have a few friends that are wanting to get together for it and I don't quite know yet what all we may do but considering it is a group of both Wiccans and Native Americans it should be well incorporated and fun.

Well, we have 'Stonehenge' about thirty miles away from here; I often think of being there on the day. :)

You are only thirty miles away from Stonehenge? That is so awesome! I hope that someday I can be able to travel there and see it. I would think it would be a really spiritual experience. I have always wanted to travel overseas and go to Ireland and Scotland and everywhere else there to just see the land my ancestors lived on and the spiritual and historical lay of the land.

Spiritual and historical lay, eh? Not sure there' much of the original lay left, its all concrete now :(.

As for stonehenge, are we even allowed near it anymore?

Stonehenge is restricted to the public because of previous vandalism. You can get in there if it is a religious purpose (ie. you are a Druid or Wiccan). In that case you have to book it about six months in advance.

As for the Summer Solstice, I plan on spending time with my family!

Cheers,

I will spend it doing what I do every change of season. Working alot with the spirits. Although, summer isn't as hectic of a change as spring or fall are.

I plan on having back surgery. ;) It's probably the best time I could have it, though. A time noted for healing. Who could ask more?

How do you prove it? They ask for certification or something before they'll let you near?
I think it'd be more about proving you were there for religious reasons and were going to be doing appropriate things, rather than whether you of a certain religion.

I am going to celebrate that day, as I always do, with an act of self improvement, often involving some activity which I have been avoiding for a long time. On this occasion I plan to go out and get a job.

I may end up waking up before dawn (have to anyway for work *grumbles*), going outside, lighting an insano amount of candles and chanting a litany of different deities related to the sun. I don't really know what the actual meaning behind the summer solstice is considered to be, but to me it seems like a perfect day to pay a little respect to the sun, without which, after all, life on earth would be impossible.

Hopefully it doesn't rain.

I have decided to fast, beginning saturday, and ending the night of the solstice with a feast. It should be a good test of my patience, and discipline while things are so hectic in the spirit world. It should be interesting.

*sigh* Can't wait until I can do things like that! That's one of the best ways to celebrate, in my opinion.

I'm not sure what I'll do :)

It's going to entail me only drinking water and broth at work for 2 days. That will be the true test. :D
