Live and Let Live.

Why?

Why dont people just live and let live?

Every corner i turn i see some Hare Krishna people converting a HIndu (i) into a..well..a Hindu. Then there are the Jehovah's Witnesses (these guys are fun) who follow me. Then there are the Christian guys... Also the Muslim folks... Why can't they just go home and live a normal life and leave everyone alone?

I had some Jehovah's Witnesses over a couple of months ago. Even I told them I was a Christian they spoke to me. They even gave me a Watchtower, which I didn't read. They said they'd be back but so far they haven't.

There was a guy at my school today, and he had a huge sign that said something like "Obey Jesus" ...or something like that... and he was yelling, sounding quite angry, thinkgs like "you think you have everything figured out! But you're wrong!! Blah blah blah..." I was walking to class, so I didn't hear much of what he said... just that he was yelling a lot and seemed like he knew that he was better than everyone else on campus, even though he didn't know anything about any of us... Why would anyone even listen to him anyway? He wasn't even being nice about it...

Friend Don,
You surely must be enjoying these talks; as you seem to have time to listen to them and then ask them to leave you alone.
Look, each person has to make a living, they do theirs, you do yours. Where is the conflict?
On sundays our apartment managment allows door to door salesmen/women to knock on our doors to sell their wares. They ring the bell; on opening the door and even before they start their sales pitch, tell them to excuse me as am not interested and close the door. End of the day, they should have made few sales and if not they change their profession and myself remain where I wanted to be.
This way, I live and let live!

yea , i don't mind, i might even enjoy talking with them but marketing their religion is a bit heart breaking. you know, when someone says 'We know you need money, come join us and we'd help you' kinda stuff. or 'buy this and God would love you more' kinda stuff.

Owh..I just knew that this kind of thing happen at your place but instead of my place. Whatever it is, whatever your belief, whatever religion that you hold on, I think we should respect each other as every religion ask the follower to do so. So, just let and live. I agree with zenzero so much..

I guess I'm not sure exactly what you mean by live and let live. From your explanation it is inherently contradictory. You are telling people to live a certain way by telling them to leave others alone: in other words, you are telling people that they can't live in a way that disturbs others by trying to give(or force) their beliefs on others. And you are giving your beliefs to others now (so you aren't living and let living).

Im with zenzero, if someone is trying to share their beliefs with me and I'm too busy, Im going to politely tell them Im not interested. But if I have time, I don’t mind talking to people. If people would BE more tolerant rather than preaching tolerance I think we would have a better world.

It is a little different, i mean in terms of religion, they need to do their job to put food on the table.

The people who try to convert are you are the SAME people from last time. Every time they see me they pester me to convert, buy books. It does get a little frustrating after a while. If you were in my position, you would be annoyed.

Friend Don,
Cannot deny your position.
Just trying to help.
Normaly it takes two hands to clap besides they must be finding you a soft taget to push their sales.
Had a similar experience when was invited by a methodist priest for a mass when he had an evangalist from US visiting his church here.
Though my friend being a methodists never tried convincing me personally to convert but this evangalist tried his tricks as soon as we were introduced.
Told him that I believe in the same ONE god they do, so nothing changes. Finally he wanted me to sell his god was different which didn't find me as a buyer and finally bid him good night after mass and dinner.

Can only say: Watch the MIND.

I don't see anything wrong with sharing your beliefs with someone, especially if you're strong in your faith.
I'm not one to go door to door though. Not a big fan of having the door slammed in my face.

Friend Don,

I would not slam the door, but it gets tired after a while.

This shows you are missing the point.
If one is present HERE-NOW it means one is totally in whatever is at hand. Then the past or future does not exists.

When you state that it gets tiring after a while itself shows that the past is present in that present.

Once again, *watch the mind*
