Living with a beard!

For years I've always had a meager, trimmed beard. Over the past few months I've been letting it grow wild, though! :D Some interesting things have been happening since I have just let it go, though.

While waiting in line at the store, there was this baby who was completely wide eyed and staring right at me. (S)he didn't know what to make of me! I smiled and the baby lit up and grinned at me like I was Santa clause. ;)

At work, a coworker (Steve) accused my beard of inappropriately touching him twice, to which I replied "but can you blame it?" After stopping to think about it momentarily, the answer was no. No, he could not blame my beard. Could anyone, really?

Do you folks have any beard, or hair related stories you'd like to share?

Beards seem to be coming back into fashion, thank G-d; I like them.

Power to you :D

I don't know about the fashion of it, but I have always liked the way they look, too. My gf was complaining at first because it was prickly when we'd kiss, but now it's long enough to where she doesn't mind.

I threaten her with the prospect of me growing my beard long enough to braid, to which she promptly replies "ew." I think she's grown to like my beard. ;)

Hahaha. Yeah, they are coming back to being somewhat chic I've noticed (I pay fashion little attention). I think this is a good thing and, as I said, I like a beard on a bloke. I have a tendency to see it as the healthier option for the skin.

Ive tried growing a beard only to for it to look like a mangy dog on my face. Ever since I've shaved my face religiously.

Aye, mine's a little patchy as well. God felt the need to gift me with two pikachu-esque patches of hair on each cheek that I need to manage regularly. :D

What? Me worry?
Always have had a moustache but I got it out of whack trying to trim it. Started growing a goatee to eventually even out the 'stache. Looked so good and distinguished I kept it. Funny thing about a beard, it seems that when you grow one no one remembers what you looked like without it; nor can they remember when you didn't have one, lol.

For my entire adult life I have had a beard. Usually a carefully trimmed up 1-1.5 inches. It's been as short as the "Don Johnson" look (I slipped with the trimmers and to cut the whole thing back.
Over the last year or so, I decided to let it get wild and crazy. It's been kinda fun to let my inner Duck Dynasty out, but I have an appointment on Friday to cut it back into submission :). Maybe i will get a pic first and post it on RF.

I had rather the opposite of your experience recently. For all my life, kids have taken to me (whether I wanted them to or not :) )
But recently I was at the grocery store. I was waiting behind some guy, because I couldn't reach the cheese shelf until he got out of the way. He had a little boy (maybe 2?) staring at me. So I smiled and gave him a little wave. He let out whimper and hid behind Dad's arm. Dad noticed and said, gently, "That's not very nice. Just say hello to the man". The boys eyes welled up and he quivered out "B-b-but... It's a monster!"

Hah! True. Though, I notice that it doesn't seem to make me any less identifiable. I'll run into someone from elementary school that I hadn't seen since those times, and they will immediately peg me, while I'm thinking to myself "err... who are you again?" :D

I've threatened to throw people off the roof for calling me the Jewish Santa Clause.

I let my beard grow to about 4 inches long and it began curling forward and I realized I looked like Lenin. I quickly shaved it.

I don't think that I could grow a beard, and my brother that looks quite a bit like me sports a mustache, frankly I look better clean shaven.

As a part native North American, I grow a pathetic beard (though an awesome 'stache). But my lover of decades has always been beard (usually well-trimmed, these days not so much) -- and I have never permitted him to remove it. I love a man with facial hair.
