Didn't really like that episode, set when civilisation had moved on from dictatorship you install a dictator. Just didn't float my boat.

I agree.
His work in other areas has been stellar, eg, "Extras", "Dune".
My boat fared well with that episode.
Finally....a captain who cared about the mission more than feelings.
