Long Drives

The thing to do is enjoy it, don't drive to increase stress, accept every other driver is in idiot just waiting for the chance to honk at you, don't give them the chance. Take in the scenery, every time you pass it will be different. Use the time to relax a little
I tend not to worry much about other drivers, unless I'm in a big city. They honk, I call 'barnacle head'.

But as for the scenery being different each time you pass... You've clearly never rode/driven through Iowa. Hours and hours of:

Grid like roads. If you take the interstates, higher speeds, no interruptions. Take the back roads, slower speeds, and the occasional small town will break things up a bit(though they're mostly identical).

If that's corn we have fields of it along the valley, I've watched it growing from small shoots to pretty damn tall with the cobs starting to swell, every week is different

After 38 years of watching corn grow, I've lost any appreciation for it. There isn't anything to break it up... no forests, no hills... just corn. (Unless you pass over the Mississippi, then there's a little bit of variety for half an hour or so).

I think I could stomach it better if it was, well, edible. The vast majority of it goes to be turned into ethanol. Some of its used for cattle feed. A very small percentage of Iowa's corn actually goes for human consumption.

I think it makes me grumpy; all this corn gets grown to 'feed' these oversized trucks and SUVs that are all over the road(mostly because they're trendy, only a few use them in any functional way), which puff clouds of smoke that goes to pollute, which changes the climate, which is making my beloved creek dry up... (and ironically, isn't helping the corn any, either)

Sorry, rant over. Point, Iowa cornfields are a big downer for me.

Ok, then carry a couple of cats in the car ;-)

But keep your attention on the road

Should be fun. Tell them that they must stay in the back. And watch you don't get one snuggled down under the brake pedal
I used to have one that liked to go in the car. It baffled drive thru people when I'd roll through with a cat sitting on my chest...

We had one who stood on the passenger seat, front paws on the dash watching the traffic and directions i was taking.

He disappeared for about a week. He was spotted near our studio (about 20 miles from home), when he turned up back at home he was exhausted and hungry.

We have one on vacation right now. He does this every summer about this time...

20 miles is quite a distance!
