Dust1n, the colors aren't that bad, but it's still too young for me. I would rather have the color and pizzazz be much more mature. Think this generation's Mae West....I played a character last year named Mdm. Dubonnet who was a French Headmistress at a girls finishing school in the Riviera in the 1920s. I said to the costume department numerous times that if I could steal all my costumes I would. Mdm. Dubonnet was a cougar - with the most awesome attire. They were sexually powerful and form fitting without showing a lot of skin. The costume designer, Kelley, was brilliant. I may just give her a call.

Who are YOU?

Great post, Vi.

Let's see... To answer this question. Professionally, I'm:

Bold
Sensual
Relevent
Varied
Critical
Encouraging
Experimental and a little risky
Super generous
Loving
Anti-complacent...

...speaking of which, people know me to say in class and in rehearsals that complacency is my sworn enemy. I hate hate Hate complacency in any part of my life. It's probably my co-dependent hangover that's fueling it, but nobody's perfect LOL. I can use that character trait for good and without being destructive toward myself or others.

Hmmmm.....

It's funny because performers call me "Mistress Heather", even when I'm in my track suit. I guess my personality comes out anyway no matter how I try to hide it. :p

Violet.
Mature, Classy, Sexually powerful.

That is all you!
You know.
Go find that designer!

Couture is most likely your best bet.
IMO

Maybe design in a lot of clever "mix and match".
So you can re'coordinate the same elements
for strikingly varried effects/affect.

Will do.

Seriously, all the suggestions in this thread have been helpful. I'd say that so far the difference in my desired professional wardrobe and my personal wardrobe is the presence if ripped/slashed t-shirts that have been pieced back together again.

I love t-shirts....when they're sort of a Picasso re-imagining kind of way. LOL

See how much you can "uncover" in your 'covering'.

Use lace for example to straddle the line between
'proper' and "victoria's secret".

ermm... by mix and match,
I did not mean soda cans as hair accessories.

Silly.

If I had a better figure,
I would incorporate things like langerie in my outerwear.
Corsets of all kinds,
a see through cover piece to go over something
very form fitting underneath.

I would use Reniasance elements with modern jeans and such.

But... I guess i am stuck the way I am physically. :(
So I just choose to keep things simple.
It's cheaper that way anyhow.
It's not like I have any money for clothing.

I'm the one who should probably figure out how to incorporate
recyclables & 'trash' into my wardrobe.

Let's say that you've given me tons of ideas to play with.

Isn't it funny that I've been such a kindred spirit in my choice of dress and my personality in my personal life, and my choice of professional relationships (who I work with and what shows I've done and the quality of my work), and yet I hadn't realized just how tame and safe I've been with my professional wardrobe?

Oh well. Que sera, sera. Time to come out of the closet again. :p

Perhaps that is the best idea. I don't really know much about fashion. Have you tried looking at foreign distributors?

If I were you, Heather, I'd simply cover myself with mud. You can be sure no one else in the industry is going for the mud wrestling look, and so you will have the distinction and the niche all to yourself.

I like how these dresses drape and where they hug, and I'd see these fashions as being a good basic form to build off of. Thanks!

I'm sure I would. Problem is, I don't mind getting dirty as long as I can take frequent showers in between, but I don't want my studio getting muddy. :(

I always thought you reminded me of Elaine from Seinfeld. Not sure why, but her personality in that show was awesome and kind of reminds me of what I know from the RF of you. A side from that, how about the school teacher look for you? nice set of glasses with a pencil tangling from finger to lips. Kind of the, I am smart, but incredibly sexy look?

I can see that, Mike. School Teacher with color, though. :dancer:

Elaine's character was a little too whiny for me, but she was adorable. ;)

OOOOOh I know, how about a renaissance girl? Like at the festivals? That would be hot! and also fit well with dancer/choreographer.
