Looking for arguments for the existence of God

Studying one book for an entire life is a waist, when there is no evidence that is it nothing more then a collection of stories. One could study a child's book for their entire life and continue to find "deeper meaning" as long as they have the desire to find it they will.

What is rewarding or a waist is relative. If someone feels that dedicating their life to studying one book is rewarding, then it is rewarding for that person.

I agree.
Though I would make it a point to point out that it does not matter what book.

I can agree that it can be relative to that person but not to society. You can be a productive member of society or a weight that holds everyone down. In the case of someone who spends their life searching for "deeper meaning" in a piece of literature, that person is a drain on society. Where as if their time was spent studying and advancing medicine he or she could be saving lives.

The Holy Bible is proof of the existence of God. Read the book of Romans. There you will find proof that Romans was not written by the minds of men but by the divine inspiration of God. Like all religions one must have faith. As a Christian are job is to go and preach to all nations. I can say homosexuality is wrong, I can say a lot of things are wrong according to the inspired word of God. No one is going to believe me unless the Holy Spirit breaks their heart and shows them why Jesus died for His people. There are those people who were Christians and have become athiests. Maybe they were never saved in the first place. You can't just be a hearer of the word, you have to be a doer as well.

Classic, just classic you brought a huge smile to my face... Where is Jay when you need him!!!!

A more ironic statement the world has never known.

Oh, I definately disagree.

Spending your life searching for deeper meaning =\= being a drain on society. You can both be a medical professional and a searcher for deeper meaning.

Besides that, your findings in your search for deeper meaning can provide others with personal quests for deeper meaning! It can have great societal impacts in support groups etc etc etc.

If only one person in the world searched for deeper meaning, I'm sure people would flock to hear this person talk of his/her experiences and findings - which is of great benefit to those people! (which of course, is why churches seem to be so popular;))

Rorschach, I am new to this board, I understand that you are seeking religious people’s proofs for what they believe in (God), and as my first response to this is know as the five way, works of the theologian Thomas Aquinas.

Proofs For And Against The Existence of God
St. Thomas Aquinas, in the thirteenth century, formulated the famous "five ways" by which God's existence can be demonstrated philosophically:
1. The "unmoved mover" argument. We know that there is motion in the world; whatever is in motion is moved by another thing; this other thing also must be moved by something; to avoid an infinite regression, we must posit a "first mover," which is God.
2. The "nothing is caused by itself" argument. For example, a table is brought into being by a carpenter, who is caused by his parents. Again, we cannot go on to infinity, so there must be a first cause, which is God.
3. The cosmological argument. All physical things, even mountains, boulders, and rivers, come into being and go out of existence, no matter how long they last. Therefore, since time is infinite, there must be some time at which none of these things existed. But if there were nothing at that point in time, how could there be anything at all now, since nothing cannot cause anything? Thus, there must always have been at least one necessary thing that is eternal, which is God.
4. Objects in the world have differing degrees of qualities such as goodness. But speaking of more or less goodness makes sense only by comparison with what is the maximum goodness, which is God.
5. The teleological argument (argument from design). Things in the world move toward goals, just as the arrow does not move toward its goal except by the archer's directing it. Thus, there must be an intelligent designer who directs all things to their goals, and this is God.

Take your pick

Society is whatever people do.

Take your pick

There is no proof for the existence for god in any of those. The only thing there is a definition of God. I can only assume that Rorschach is looking for evidence for a personal god.
