Lord Shiva books?

Namaste everyone,

I am interested in finding some good books on Lord Shiva. As his devotee I do wish to have some. I know heard about Living with Siva and Dancing with Siva, but what else? Anyone have any recommendations?

You've tried Amazon and googling? Not sure what exactly you're looking for but the Tirumantiram is a very mystical but a bit arduous read. Tirumoolar certainly had a ton of depth on it.

Yes of course I have tried those. I asked here simply because I figured maybe someone in the community had read some good ones and would recommend...One of my friends who live in India just told me about some books...

To be very frank and honest, I'm a Saivite, but I just haven't read many books at all. (I re-read the entire trilogy you mentioned once a year, in sadhana, and I never get bored, gleaning new things each time through) ) Worshipping Siva daily, going ot temple, recognising Siva in all things, that's where my sadhana lies. You have me curious now, just what is it you hope to find in the books you get? Siva is also within, after all.

Try Shiva Purana and possibly Skanda Purana, it is supposed to be one of the longest.

Thanks, I typically like physical copies of book because reading from a screen hurts my eyes and will give me migraines.

Thanks very much...I saw these on amazon as well. I think in the future I should just get the books. No one seems to have read any one in particular to suggest.

However, Srimad Bhagawat Purana (the Gita Press, Gorakhpur edition that I read and still have after 50 years, not the Prabhupada edition) has many stories about Shiva. They were sufficient for me. I will suggest that.

The war between Shiva and Krishna in case of Banasura, and the explanation of the 'Hari-Hara' avatara, half hiva-half Vishnu. If you remember I posted the relevant old paintings in another topic earlier. I do not know if Prabhupada edition has that or not? And if it has, with what bias it has been shown? Banasura's daughter Usha was enamored of Aniruddha, the grandson of Lord Krishna, and had had him abducted to her palace.

That story (of Banasura) has a very interesting twist in Bhagavatam hahaa. But I don't think Hari-Hara specifically is in Bhagavatam. There is also Shiva Gita in Bhagavatam which is beautiful prayers to Lord SadaShiva (who is the origin of Rudra).

Also the Story of Lord Shiva and Daksha Prajapati is there in Bhagavatam also and how Shiva drank the ocean of poison.

Siva Sutras easily makes it into the top 3 deepest books of all time. Spanda Karikas is an in depth explanation of Siva Sutras and easily the deepest book of all time.
