Making Chicken Stock

Ok, well I know how to make it. I made some today. However, I have a bit of a problem:

I was mixing the chicken in water, and towards the end of the process, I discovered that the chicken's butt was still in the mixture. Is it sanitary to use this stock now? I'm worried that the chicken's butt-hole will contaminate the stock.... and it'll be bad for us to eat. That's what I get for not checking the damned chicken first. :(

Yes. Boiling kills poop germs. :) You may want to fish the actual butthole out before you turn it into a noodle soup though.

Hey don't sell yourself short! I see a chicken butt as kind of the way a hunk of pork fat works in a vat of beans. You don't really wanna eat it but it puts some good flavor in the rest of the mix. ;)

chicken butt hole? Whaaaaaa? What kind of poultry do they sell in Kiwiland?

It was a whole chicken... We ate the meat, and I usually make a stock with the bones. This time, I forgot to take off ALL the rest of the meat/skin.... and subsequently butthole :(

So, when you say a whole chicken, did it look like this?

Well I'm not dead, so that's saying something... honey, there's been some issues of late out at the chicken factory where the chickens are all assembled. The butthole adding machine broke down last week and we have to fly a new one in from Australia. It could take weeks so we better stock up on butthole-less chickens while we can. To the supermarket!

Don't worry, putting the butt into stock is probably as clean as handling eggs....think about where they come from....
