Malaysian newspaper publishes 'how to spot a gay' checklist

I'm less concerned with the specific contents of the checklist than I am with the idea that someone would want a checklist to spot gay people.

Even if it was 100% accurate, it's still presumably a tool to help identify people for harassment or worse. The problem with inaccurate gay-bashing is the "bashing" part, not the "inaccurate" part.
I agree 100% but I also stress that this was a favorite pastime in North America, for closeted young (and old) people, until all too recently. Our newfound "allies" were nowhere to be found when I was growing up. Jus' sayin'...

"They stated that gay men were easy to identify because of their love of beards"

Another methodological problem regarding their scientific approach to flagrant gayness is that the purpose of a beard is specifically to hide the fact that one is 'on the other bus'.

Given how easily duped humans are, you just know that some people are going to swallow the paper's checklist as if it were solid truth.

Comments?
I keep coming back to this thread, writing a response, then deleting it before posting.

It's just sad. It's sad that you're probably right the checklist will be seen as truth. It will likely be used to justify bashing on a personal level, and probably also on a legal level, since homosexuality is illegal there.

What's even sadder to me is that homosexuality is illegal there, so people who use such a checklist and see it as justification for their violence against others, might be seen as being on the same side as the law, rather than being criminal for it.

This is going to end badly when some fool uses this list to report people to the police (or morality police?)

Now you do!
I presume you prefer comfortable footwear?
I do indeed sir. I don't get how women wear those skyscrapers known as "high heels."
Much prefer to be shopping for books, games and geeky gear than for shoes or clothes.

Next thing we'll hear is that Duck Dynasty and it's accompanying merchandise has been banned in Malaysia.
