And now there is a purpose to life - to see Batman and Superman together in a movie. In 2015 Man of Steel 2 will introduce Batman.
I kind of hope they don't make another Batman movie franchise, it's too soon. I wouldn't mind seeing a new Batman just not another set of movies about this new Batman, or at least use one of the older Batman interpretations - Johnny Depp's Batman and Batman Returns Batman wasn't a bad one (though you might want to replace the actor), and it didn't prove to have complete realism so I can see it working.
What do you think they should do? Who should star as the new Batman/Bruce Wayne? etc. etc.

My first vote for the next Batman would be Dwayne Johnson (The Rock). They need to come up with at least one Batman who looks like he could actually kick some ***.

I don't know how I feel about it yet. I love Batman, but I saw a Batman trilogy and now I want to see Superman. I felt that Man of Steel covered a ton of origin stuff and ended in a perfect spot, so they had the foundation for a great sequel, where they can slow things down a little bit and really have a good, complex plot, probably involving Lex and another villain vs. Superman. But with Batman in the mix, I dunno.
With Superman/Batman movie, a Flash movie, and a Justice League movie, we'll see. There's potential for all of it to be awesome. Making it "Batman vs. Superman" might be the only way DC can give Marvel a run for the money at the box office.
Superman/Batman Public Enemies was about Lex becoming President of the United States and convincing the world that Superman was bad, leading various villains and heroes to try to take him down. So him and Batman went around and saved the day.
More likely is that Batman and Superman will fight each other. The director said it's Batman vs Superman in the next one, with Dark Knight Returns being used as the inspiration for it. In Dark Knight Returns (by Frank Miller), Batman comes out of retirement in his 50's. After various adventures with his new female Robin, Batman has to fight Superman due to being on opposite sides of the government. There are some plot devices that make that possible, like Batman with technology and exo-skeleton armor, some Kryptonite, a weakened Superman, etc. I don't think they'll make Man of Steel 2 end in any way similar to Dark Knight Returns, though.
My guess would be in the movie, that Batman & Superman fight, with Lex involved in the story, but then they figure out that's probably not a good idea, and then team up and go after Lex, therefore kind of combining those above pieces of material.

There's currently some buzz about how Ryan Goseling should be picked to do it. Personally, I don't really care who does it; I think they'll pick someone right. They picked Heath Ledger for the Joker, people were like, "what?", and then he carried the movie.
I hope Joseph Gordon-Levitt doesn't do it. He would look about as manly in a Batman costume as I would.
Superman saves the U.S. from a Soviet nuclear strike (Frank wrote this back in the '80s), but the U.S. plunges into chaos anyway. Batman and his group keeps Gotham running okay, though. The government sends Superman to take Batman out.
Batman plans for the upcoming fight and has his Robin (Carrie) and another hero, Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) with him. In the battle, Superman is already weakened from having been hit with the previous nuclear blast, and Batman uses missiles and stuff but then physically fights him with a power suit (which is funny 'cause it's so big and makes him look like a marshmallow), though the power suit gets destroyed by Superman through the fight. When Superman begins winning, the Green Arrow shoots Superman with Kryptonite that Batman made, defeating but not killing him. Batman gives Superman a pretty infamous monologue while he's beating him bloody, telling him he made the Kryptonite weak on purpose, and to remember who beat him for all the years to come.
Then, Batman dies of a heart attack mid-fight. But, at his funeral, Superman realizes that Batman's death was staged, and Batman goes back to fighting crime, with people believing him to be dead. Batman planned all of this.

This thread is the first place i see this news in. I was kind of bummed out to read it. For one thing, i would've liked for Batman to remain untouched for a good while. The trilogy was awesome and i wanted to be left with that memory of Batman.
The ending to the Dark Knight Rises specifically was brilliant and seeing a completely new Batman now, possibly (but not necessarily) in a lesser dark fashion than that in the trilogy is something i'm not too excited about. Christian Bale's performance of Batman, especially in the last movie was also very touching, and seeing a newer Batman now just feels very unnecessary, unlikely to be as satisfying and with a small possibility of making me feel even awkward about him (that newer Batman).
For another thing, i would've also liked to see a couple of things in the new Superman movie, which Penumbra talked about earlier. More emphasis on the villains, with more time to unfold and develop, and Superman in what i was expecting to be a less pressured movie. I was looking forward to seeing a more 'comfortable' movie, where i can revel in little details about Superman, the villains and the story unfolding.
All that said, i do think that they'll most likely at least make a very good movie, and there's no reason to assume that it can't even be brilliant. Those making it are capable of doing so. But i can't help my reaction of not being too happy about it.
