Dear Journal,

Welcome to RF.

It is a new day, the 14th of November. It is also the 1st of Maggar (ਮੱਘਰ).

That will be all for now. I must get ready for a long day of work at the two academies where I teach classes.

Yours in honey and Korean red ginseng,

mangalavara
I hope you have a wonderful day, and both you and the students make each other smile!

Thank you for your kind words. My students and I definitely made each other smile. I even made two of my Korean co-teachers smile and laugh.

For my three basic classes, I had to prepare some short essay templates and print them out. Everyone then wrote a short essay about what they look like. (The body paragraphs are focused on hair, the face, and the eyes.) From now until next Friday, they will work on memorizing it. There will be an essay contest next Friday. During the contest, the students in all classes will have to write their essay according to memory. Each class will have a winner. Each winner will receive a prize and get their photo with their teacher posted on the bulletin boards.

Enjoy your day,

Thank you. I certainly did. :)

Dear Journal,

Early in the evening, I saw a mantis on a metallic hose at my workplace.

mantis01.JPG

The hose and the mantis were close to the ceiling, so I had to zoom in with the camera.

While I was at the local grocery store tonight, I tried to purchase a small bag of tangerines, but the kind and patient woman at the register had me get a box of 37 Jeju tangerines, which was surprisingly cheaper than the small bag. Although that is a lot of tangerines, I am grateful that they came my way. I am grateful because yesterday, I was contemplating one of the major teachings of Guru Nanak: vaṃḍ chakō (ਵੰਡ ਛਕੋ), which is usually translated as something like 'Share what you earn' but literally means 'Share what you consume.' Distributing from what I earn is something that I want to do often. Now, I have a lot of tangerines that I can give to my students and fellow teachers tomorrow.

I am looking forward to tomorrow.

p.s. I have just downloaded Firefox and I am using it now.

Sounds like the tangerine situation was meant to be. :)

The mantis is cute. :D
