Mantras against ghosts?

Engyo

Prince of Dorkness!
I personally don't know of any mantras against ghosts. We do have a service and sometimes a festival at this time of year honoring one's ancestors, but I'm not sure that's what you are looking for........

I'd imagine such mantras would only be known by Priests. Not all mantras are readily available to the public.

If you wanted to learn such a mantra, then I'd suggest talking to a priest or swami.

You could also try teaching her that there are no such things as ghosts. And therefore no mantras are necessary.

That won't work, since she has seen them, angels and her friends have said they have seen them with her.Though I don't believe her, she is firmly set in this belief and will never budge.

You do realize that old superstitions are REALLY hard to kill, right?

It takes more than just telling yourself "there's no such things as ghosts."

Friend AntiBush,

Mantras against ghosts?

The mind is the root of everything including *ghosts*.
For the mind to be calm any mantra is good enough.
Just find a word that she speaks of the most and that would be a word she is most attached with, let that be the mantra to be repeated at all spare times.
Kindly understand mantras work in two ways i.e. the sound waves created by the spoken word and its vibration and the 2nd is the *silence* after every mantra which actually is the one that has the *calming* effect.

My dad used to pray to Lord Nashringa. He used to see a lot of ghosts and chanting 'Jai Nashringa' apparently was the most powerful mantra.

I'm a bit like you, quite sceptical, but my dad is the one who has this very real experiences, not just seeing ghosts but being pushed around physically, paralysed and such things. So who knows.

Also Maha Mantra and prayers to Tulasi Devi.

you believe reality is based only on your experience? :D
should appreciate your confidence in making such claims.

Especially in light of the article FH put up...
Why does she feel she needs to
set herself up "against" the ghosts?

Is she afraid of them?

If so, why?

She claims that they "are all evil people, who don't want to go to heaven for fear of punishment" She is willing to accept help from any belief aparantly and she wants to cover all bases.

Well, probably one of the best things for her to do in that case is to avoid horror movies, and things of that nature, while indulging in comedies.

For me, the best remedy for ghosts, since their powers, from what I've gathered, is based on fear, is to just not think about them.

Based on my experience (I believe that the majority of, if not all, "ghosts" and "demons" are psychological forces, not external entities bent on destruction), if she cannot learn to have a calm, serene mindset, the ghosts will never go away, even if she were to learn all the best remedies from all belief systems.

Oh, and one other thing: from what I understand, Vedic mantras have no real power unless they are given by a Guru, and if they are not spoken with full love and devotion.

what can be a better mantra against ghosts then HANUMAN CHALISA.

One that doesn't take forever to learn for non-Hindi speakers.

Hanuman Chalisa is beautiful, and surely would work for those who love Hanuman, but it's quite extensive, and might be too much for most Westerners.
