The better way is benefit of the doubt, to not bear false witness just because you don't like somebody or want a political opponent to be guilty, to not engage in malicious gossip, rumors, innuendo. That should be the culture we shoot for.
Reporting sexual assault ain't gossip.
You judge accusations against Trump's chosen
ones to be "malicious" without a sound basis.

Then why vote for Trump? He engaged in all these far more openly and brazenly than I've seen in other politicians.

My sound basis is that the DOJ investigated the allegations against Gaetz and chose not to charge him. My sound basis is Gaetz says he is innocent and until he is arraigned, indicted, tried and found guilty he has a constitutional right and a moral right to the presumption of innocence. Those with ability to investigate those allegations are certainly free to do so. But to repeat gossip, libel, slander, innuendo, politically motivated smears just because (the rhetorical) you wants to believe they are true in my opinion is ethically and morally wrong.

Those who voted for Trump:

1. Voted in protest of the most incompetent, ineffective, damaging administration in modern history that was pushing an agenda they didn't want.

2. Voted for real hope and change in a vision that promotes a free, secure, prosperous America that allows traditional American values and offers liberty, choices, options, opportunity and prosperity for all.

And they believed that because Trump and his allies bore false witness and engaged in "malicious gossip, rumors, and innuendo."

But you don't know the reasons.
It could be entirely political.
Magas decry "lawfare", but they enjoy
their political immunities from the law..
My sound basis is Gaetz says he is innocent....
How do you know (& not merely believe) this?
...and until he is arraigned, indicted, tried and found guilty he has a constitutional right and a moral right to the presumption of innocence.
He isn't being tried in criminal court.
He's being evaluated for a job, which requires
only reasonable estimation of his pluses &
minuses....not certainty beyond a reasonable
doubt of crimes committed.

To repeat unfounded claims of innocence
bespeaks cult induced delusion.
