what is it that seizes them vs leaves them behind. what raptures them and why?

what makes you think its a rapture ?? its not speaking of rapture but of a passing of judgment.
in this case, one taken means they are killed. the other is left to live on.

to be taken means to be joined to self, or atonement

also means
to receive with the mind

  1. by oral transmission: of the authors from whom the tradition proceeds
  2. by the narrating to others, by instruction of teachers (used of disciples)


it said the lord comes and if you read the rest of the chapter there is nothing about killing. god is a god of the living, not of the dead.


besides many are called, few are chosen. you were also told that the kingdom of god comes from within you and not some other person or place.

As you witness the punishment of the wicked." sound like some kill'en going on to me. that is what the passing of judgment is
