May this be the answer to why believers speak differently even they believe in the same God

Why do people see different values in a god or a prophet or the spiritual teacher?

Is that maybe because you see or hear what you, want to see and hear, so what you hear and see becomes a reflection of you? and not the real truth in the teaching?

Should we put away our own "wants" and only listen with an empty mind when we listen to the teaching of a God/Prophet or our spiritual teacher here on earth?

In my opinion, listening to a so called "spiritual teacher" is the main reason. The biggest issue is that. This is my opinion alone since there are no surveys or statistical validations done on this topic.

I believe that why we differ in the value or ideas we put upon God is due to having these "spiritual leaders" who are self professed and can never be traced back to God. If God appointed them, there has to be a certificate. If there is some kind of God appointed spiritual leader or wali or vicegerent or whatever one wishes to call him or her, like any kind of appointment there has to be some kind of certificate signed by god himself. Logically, that is the only way.

Everything else is pure speculation and wishful thinking, and that is described in the Islamic book called the "Quran" as "Uzzanna wamaa tahwaa" or conjecture and desire or wishful thinking.

But that's an Islamic theological view and would only apply to Islamic thought or anyone who adheres to the Quran. Not for everyone else. Not a sociological or evolutionary hypothesis.

Don't have such an open mind that your brains fall out - that's a neat saying. It applies to religion too.

If every Christian admitted that the Old Testament is truth, and agrees with God's wishes (like the ten commandments....thou shalt not kill), then many Christians would want to study Judaism, and attend Jewish temples. The Christians can't have that....they want to increase their membership. So, many lies are told about Jews to keep Christians away. On the TV show "King of the Hill" they said that Jewish food causes gout (though it tastes good). Jews were said to have killed Jesus (more false info, and that resulted in many Jews being beaten). There are statues of Jews eating babies in Germany (pre-WWII). Perhaps these false assertions resulted in the later WWII (Nazi) holocaust?

Mormons believe that Christ visited America. Yet, mainstream Christians balk at Mormons, claiming that they are not Christians because they have a different bible...one that relies on prophecies of Joseph Smith.

There is much back-biting between the various religions (even Christian religions), because one sect doesn't want the other sect to steal its members, or they believe that they are teaching blasphemy.

Some churches feel that the old way of religion is correct. Other churches believe that reformation was necessary (perhaps to get back to the old orthodox ways). Thus we see Lutherans, Methodists, Baptists, and a host of other sects popping up, and many create arguments why the other sects are wrong.

When God separated the various races, colors, and languages at the Tower of Babel, I wonder if it was God's intent to keep these bickering people away from each other until they matured into accepting other ideas. It is inconceivable that God would share knowledge of his existence with just one small piece of the world and not spread word of his existence (and a bible that teaches us what to do) to all cultures around the world. Maybe God has? If so, maybe we all have an incomplete knowledge of God (and God's words), and only through merging and accepting other religions can we get the entire picture?
