Maybe this will clear some confusion

Didn't know where to put this, so put it here. If its in the wrong place, mods please direct it to where it should be.

Let me clear up some confusion some seem to have with their assumptions about me..

I am just an ole country boy living life for what its worth. Some say we only live once, I say BS we live everyday, we only die once so live your life to be happy.

If you don't meddle in my life, I won't meddle in yours.

I am not republican nor democrat. Don't particularly like either.

I am not religious but also don't know what's out there.

I don't care about your race, gender, sexual preferences, political stance, wealth(or lack of), size of your house, your religion(or lack of), your education(or lack of) or whatever. How we get along depends on you as much as it does on me

You treat me right you will get the same in return.

If you kick me, be prepared to get kicked back.

Respect is a two ways street.

Your reputation is what others think you are. Your character shows who you are.

With that said.... However if you can't show respect and support for the American flag, the vets -past, present and future and those that have died for you, the sacrifices they made for you to have the rights that you have, I won't support one damn thing you think is important.
See, you were all good until that last bit.

Basically, your entire post just says "I am an entirely neutral person who respects you and your positions as long as you respect me: but if you hold a particular set of positions, you are bad."

I mean, is it possible you're not as "neutral" and "above it all" as you think you are, perhaps? There is no greater bias than that of the person who is convinced that they are above bias.

Then we disagree. Should I hate you or not care?
Up to you. I find this veneration of a piece of cloth a bit absurd and a bit sinister, to be honest. But then we in Europe have some unhappy memories of veneration of national flags.

In fact, since Brexit, I find myself rather cold towards even towards our own national flag. It is so easy for flags to be co-opted by people with dubious motives.

Selflessly here for you
if you can't show respect and support for the American flag

I’ll admit, this surprised me.

What of all those on here who are not American and live elsewhere, what reason have they to show “support” for “your” flag? Perhaps you show much “support” for theirs and feel it’s only fair it goes both ways?

At best, I’d say they’ll be neutral to “your” flag. But those who are not, probably have their reasons - America does not always behave too respectfully towards other nations.

All good though. I personally am unlikely to directly disrespect a flag of any sort - but you won’t catch me worshiping one either.

I have no respect for the American flag, I'm not American. I don't respect any national flag for that matter. They are after all just a rectangle of materials design to instill nationalism.

But i do respect the sacrifice ancient combatants have given.

And i know you don't support or respect me or my way of life and i really don't care.

That said, there are one or two points on which we agree.

It is necessary to respect other nations. After all, we trade with them, get things that we do not have from them, se4ll what we produce in other countries. We are tied together by many strings, education and health services, tourism, etc.

"Not too keen on artists glorifying wars they never fought in"

I'm not to keen on presidents that never served ordering troops to war.
It's extremely rare that any artist has ever glorified any war. Lots of propaganda pretends to be art, though.

Lots of artists have glorified war. The glorification of war and heroism is a major historical theme across the arts.

Of course, many artists have done the opposite too.

I thought this was pretty obvious this was for Americans...

"However if you can't show respect and support for the American flag, the vets -past, present and future and those that have died for you, the sacrifices they made for you to have the rights that you have"

Why would I expect people in others countries to respect and show support for the American flag and our vets?

I give up.

I have no respect for any flag.
**** the flag.
**** patriotism.
They might inspire good.
But they've also inspired evil & blindness to it.
Veterans are individuals, not a uniformly honorable group.
Good or bad? Show me the person's acts. Then I'll judge.

**** the social contract too.
