Just as it's only fair and reasonable for
a person, making the report to be informed,
the person on receiving end is owed some actual explanation of their error.

Citing a general rule like " bullying" that has no evident
connection to the reported post, and, refusing further
comment is itself something that could stand to be reviewed.

Or else don't even provide a space for asking.

Hi, everyone!

This poll is to help inform a staff decision regarding received reports. We are considering whether to send an alert to a member who files a report after we have reviewed it so that the member knows we have acknowledged their report and reviewed the reported content.

Is this something you would prefer us to do? Would it make a difference to you if the staff sent you an alert after reviewing a report that said something such as, "We have reviewed the report. Thank you for bringing this to our attention"?

Please note that such alerts wouldn't reveal what action, if any, the staff took on the reported content, because moderation on RF is confidential per Rule 2 and can only be discussed between the staff and the member whose content has been moderated.
I think it is always a good thing to acknowledge that one has been heard.

I reported something, quite serious, a few days ago and heard nothing.

It was because of this thread that I went back and checked and found the user had honoured my request and removed the offending text. I am grateful that they did so, but was unaware of anything prior to going back and checking.

It would have been nice to get some kind of response, especially to very extreme comments, prompting a report.
