Message from a Mormon

I heard different opinions from scholars. I personally think it is very nice if they greet me that way. My friends say whenever a non-Muslim tells them "Asalamo Alaikum" they don't respond back "Wa'alaikum Asalam", they simply say "Wa'alaikum"(to you too), for certain scholars claim if non-Muslims address you in that manner you would not know the intention behind it(e.g. it could be a bad one).

That reminds me of a time several years ago, before I knew anything at all about Islam. I kept seeing posts from Muslims saying, "Jesus (PBOH)..." and I asked somebody, "How do you pronounce "pboh"? I now know what it means and have stopped trying to pronounce it, but I guess a few Muslims must have gotten a good laugh out of my ignorance. I got a good laugh myself once it was explained to me.

I've felt for a while now that from a social perspective Mormons and Muslims resemble each other a lot indeed.

It seems to me that it is because both groups have similar, fairly conservative values centered on the belief in God, a strong desire of keeping and building traditional families with traditional, reliable roles, and a well-maintained sense of responsibility and mutual support for those sharing the faith.

All in all, not a bad set of goals, however much I may question the core beliefs and the drawbacks of the specific approach.

Oh yes, I must make this into a respectful question... so, would you please comment on how accurate you feel this analysis to be? Katzpur, you are definitely welcome to PM me too.

I think that's a very fair assessment. I don't know if you read my post #9, but in it I mentioned some of the things we have in common.

Hello, my Muslim brothers and sisters. I have spent the morning over on another forum where I have been the subject of intense harrassment and ridicule at the hands of some of my fellow Christians. Over lunch, I mentioned to my husband that some of the nicest people I have come to know on either of the religion sites I post on regularly are the Muslim posters. Since I mentioned it to him, I thought it wouldn't hurt to mention it to you, too. There are some of you who only post on the Islam DIR and whom I probably have had very little interaction with. Others of you post on some of the same forums I do. With very few exceptions, I have found you to be courteous, civil and respectful. I just wanted to tell you that and tell you how much I have appreciated it.
Thank you so much for your kind words katzpur :) It might sound like a return compliment to you, but you know that i have delivered it to you quite a few times about how i like most of your posts, so respectful and kind, it is really refreshing to come across people like you, keeps many of us on our personal check of attitude, esp me :D

May Allah bless you and be with you always :)

Oh boy! If anybody needs an attitude check once in awhile, it's me! But thank you again for your kind words.
