The driving out of the money changers as a metaphor for cutting out the middle man in people's relationship with God.

I tend to agree on both points. They should replace it with the lyrics to America's "Ventura Highway":

Yes, but you left out "Do do do do, Do do do do..." obviously a reminder that faith without works is dead.

This is clearly a reference to the artist formerly known as The Prince of Peace

I see baptism as a metaphor;

While we're standing on the rivers edge looking into the water (life) all we see is our reflection and a distorted, backwards reflection of what's around us.

Once we dive in, our reflection (our self conscoiusness) disappears and we're actually in the river---feeling it, experiencing it, part of it.

I have several journal articles on this topic, but they are in my bibliograpy at home. Generally speaking, a metaphor is a word or concept [A] used to represent another word or concept , with multiple contacts between [A] and with the purpose of explaining [A].

Right over his head.:help:

Oh well. I thought it was a good pun...

In my defense, I'll refer ya'll to the best post ever on RF.

I hear ya Mel, but you have to appreciate just how intelligent dear Angellous_Evangellous is. He is certainly nobody's fool and to be honest, much like myself, doesn't suffer fools lightly...
