I've never really liked any kind of chocolate. Chocolate milk is ok, but I would prefer normal milk. I don't care much for milk chocolate either. There is a place in Indiana called South Bend Chocolates. I heard they make real chocolate, but I don't think that good.

Ok, I love chocolate. There is actually nothing better than chocolate. Ever. I guess they just don't have any good chocolate in america. I've tried Hershey's and Toblerone and they're both quite sweet, not really bitter enough. Do you have any bitter but smooth chocolate in your country?

No, I didn't mean to imply that. I just thought maybe they would have been called something different. I thought it was only on the West Coast of the US. Like my bro doesn't have safeways in New York. I thought maybe you just had something different.

chocolate milk is so good, one of my favorite drinks.
My favorite drink is yager(spelling) bombs.
I have heard mixing chocolate milk and beer isn't a very good idea.

True ...its good but not the best. not enough coco butter to be the best.still a bit bitter rather then a strong coco taste.

Jagermeister? be careful that stuff can kick your....

Yeah I've tried cooking chocolate before but it's not smooth enough for a big wuss like me :p . I stick with my earlier testimonial for Lindt 70% cocoa extra dark. Hey Malus, got any *drool* smilies :D

We have Safeways in the Washington DC area, but yeah, there were no Safeways when I lived in New York.

I'm surprised about there being Safeways in Australia too. (I knew there were Starbucks and MickeyD's and Burger Kings, etc.) Kinda sad actually how homogenous we've become.

Yeah, it is sad. Maybe it's just northeastern states that don't have them...

I worked for McDonalds for a few years. And if there's anyone out there thinking about it, DON'T!!! Most depressing job ever. They pay you nothing, expect you to sweat for every cent, and you end up eating far too much of the food. Most of the managment arent very nice either!

Starbucks  . How to ruin a good coffee in one easy lesson. There are benefits to knowing someone who works there though. My mate used to line up those little shot glasses of coffee on the counter for me. mmmmmnnnnn pure caffeine. Maybe I should tell feathers :p

You will find it hard to find in England we have a milk chocolate much like yours.
Belgium France Switzerland and Germany are famous for the real thing.
Even so, English milk chocolate is better than American milk chocolate.

When I was a grad student in biology there was a postdoc in our lab who was from Britain complaining about American chocolate. I laughed at him, thinking that Belgian, French, Swiss, and German chocolates were better than American but a Brit had no basis to poopoo our chocolate. Turns out he went back to visit England the next week and just to prove his point, he brought us back some Cadbury chocolate sold in Britain, as opposed to the Cadbury sold in the U.S. He brought back Wispas and Flakes and something else. I loved the Wispa bars! so light and airy. True, it's still too sweet and cloying compared to fine, dark European chocolate, but it was far better than a Hershey bar.

A friend of mine visited London last week and asked if there was anything I wanted. I asked him for a Wispa bar. He came back yesterday and informed me that apparently I had sent him on a wild goose chase. Cadbury doesn't sell Wispas in Brittain any more. :(

Btw, German chocolate can be good, but then there's Kinder chocolate. blech!! I like the little toys in the Kinder eggs tho! :p

My favorite is Valrhona from France. yum, yum!

Believe it or not, Americans are capable of making good dark chocolate too. Scharffen Berger, based in San Francisco, makes a great bittersweet (70%), much better (smoother) than the Lindt 70%. But my favorite from them is the nibby bar with bits of ground cocoa "nibs" mixed in. And I just recently had some absolutely delicious dark chocolate from a local company in the Chicago area. Blommer choclates names their chocolate blends after locations, and my favorite was the "Sarasota" - dark and rich and mellow with nuanced flavors.

Why do they taste so good together? Is is just conditioning, where I got so used to hearing that milk and chocolate taste good together that I just subconciously was forced to like it, or is there some actual chemical reason behind it?
I don't know, Aqualung. I feel no need to mix milk and chocolate together.

I like to eat that plain backing cocoa. That stuff is so bitter and delicious!
Straight baking cocoa would be a bit too bitter for me. (No wonder you need the milk!) But I do like to add a bit of unsweetened baking cocoa to my chili sometimes. It adds a slightly bitter kick and a really nice richness to the flavor. :)
