Miracles in the Quran

I know I can't convince you to believe like this. Even if an angel came and slapped you on the face you would still dismiss it as hallucination.
Um no, if an angel appeared before most of us, I'm fairly certain most would sit up and pay attention. The thing is that so many theists take their own narrative so seriously that they cannot allow themselves to believe that atheists are not impressed with their, all too often, shallow thinking.

Regarding those who disbelieved, it is the same to them whether thou warn them or do not warn them; they will not believe. * God hath set a seal on their hearts and on their hearing, and on their eyes is a veil; great is the penalty they (incur).
So, in effect, we are damned by a god that has made it impossible for us to see otherwise. How incredibly merciful is that? What a truly evil being the god of Islam is.

So then, with absolutely no fault of our own, we are just as god has created us. Being slapped in the face by a mere angel still wouldn't be enough to knock the seals off our hearts, eyes, and ears that god himself placed.

And I can live with that.

Quick corrections, if you don't mind.

"Lucifer" doesn't exist in Islam; "Lucifer" isn't Satan's name, but "Iblis".
And Satan isn't an angel in Islam; he's a jinn.
And Satan didn't "rebel" in Islam: he disobeyed. He refused to prostrate to humans, even under God's direct command, seeing himself as better than humanity.*

And We have certainly created you, [O Mankind], and given you [human] form. Then We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam"; so they prostrated, except for Iblees. He was not of those who prostrated.

[ Allah ] said, "What prevented you from prostrating when I commanded you?" [Satan] said, "I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him from clay."

- Qur'an: al-A'raf (Surah 7), verses 11-12, Sahih International Translation [Linked]

Note: Iblis is not taken as being an angel, even though he is "with the angels". Angels have no free will in Islam. Jinn, of which Iblis is supposed to be, have free will like humans. The fact that Iblis refuses, shows that, according to Islamic beliefs, shows he has free will, and therefore he cannot be an angel.

Not Muslim, by the way. If I've made any mistakes, hopefully a Muslim will spot them and correct me. :)

News flash for you: as a former muslim myself, I'm well aware of the quranic version of the story.. I just find the biblical one to be more entertaining, but at the end of the day, both gods are the same evil ego-maniacs... it's just that the biblical one is not blatantly showing it off like the quranic one; making it easier for his followers to argue for his goodness..

So, if you are a former Muslim, then why would you get something part of curriculum "Islam 102" wrong, or even conflate some (typically folk) Christian interpretations of Lucifer == Satan together with another source?

Is this newsflash from the Daily Mail?

I just find the biblical one to be more entertaining,
Can't argue with that. I feel so too, but this is merely our personal taste.

If I looked at things from a simplistic view, then I'm sure I would feel the same as you and agree just as strongly. Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury of keeping simplistic views and being someone who prizes learning and progression highly. I have been given enough exegesis and understandings to know that things are not as simple as you have made them out to be here.
