Thank you! You're not too shabby yourself!
IRL, people do catch on quickly that I have a very active sense of humor. Some more stuffy types are unsettled by this, because I basically see humor in just about everything and I'm pretty irreverent. But most people are pretty positive with me. I enjoy making people laugh.
Humor is so ingrained in my personality that I can be inappropriate at times - like, for example, even in really scary situations I find myself making quips or suddenly being overcome with the urge to burst out laughing at some incongruous element of the scenario.
For example, we had an actual and very real tornado come through a few years ago - and I happened to be at my mom's house with a couple of my kids. She has a root cellar. We ended up rushing into the root cellar and getting under a table that was stored there. We heard all this terrible noise outside - honestly it sounded like the world was coming to an end. I looked around and the expressions on everyone's face suddenly struck me as hilarious for some reason. I mean, everyone was sitting there stock still with eyes so big they looked like subterranean creatures there in the dusky room. I couldn't control myself - I burst out laughing and said between gasps "We all look like Gollum!" We started laughing so hard we were nearly crying. I'm sure it had a lot to do with trying to defuse our fear and tension. I do that a lot and it's a sort of subconscious coping mechanism.
I had to deal with a lot of fear and tension in my childhood.
I usually enjoy being with those folks who have a bit comedic personality than those who are too serious. Makes things more relaxed.
