More than five actual senses?

If you add equilibrium, that means there are sixth senses, not five, but a case could be made that its more physical than the others. I fixed my equilibrium problem by using a vibrator behind my ears, the same way Golf pro Lee_Trevino fixed his.

If you divide "touch" into its actual senses (pressure, pain, heat, etc) you get a whole lot more than 6.

Good point, that totals ten senses if you add cold. You can also break down taste to: tart. sweet, salty, bland, etc, and if you include, smell, well, I won't go there.

"Cold" isn't a sense, because it is the other half of the "heat" sense, thermoception. Individual tastes aren't individual senses, because they use the same type of receptor.

Proprioception - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Proprioception
(/ˌproʊpri.ɵˈsɛpʃən/ PRO-pree-o-SEP-shən), from Latin proprius, meaning "one's own", "individual" and perception, is the sense of the relative position of neighbouring parts of the body and strength of effort being employed in movement.

This is the sense that allows someone to close their eyes and touch their fingertips together.

-Q

I just tried and couldn't do it. I did finally touch my fingertips, but it was trial and error, not another sense.
