Question Everything
I've been reading through a bunch of the profiles - soooo many good stories / incredible ppl. I think this is such a good idea for Mormon.org to do.

I just submitted mine, idea. I'm sure there's a huge backlog of stuff for them to read and approve, so it may not be up for awhile yet.

I am curious, why is the site name mormon.org? I thought that was consider offensive by your church? I guess maybe other domain names were taken?

It's not offensive; we don't really mind being called "Mormons." ("Morons" kind of rubs us the wrong way, though. :D) The official name of the Church is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints," and there is no such thing as the "Mormon Church." The nickname, "Mormon," comes from our belief in "The Book of Mormon," and as long as its respectfully used, most of us are okay with it. We even use the word ourselves as part of the official title of "The Mormon Tabernacle Choir."

The thing is, a lot of people don't know the correct name of the Church, so they probably wouldn't even think to look for "lds.org," which is actually the site geared primarily to members of the Church. "Mormon.org" is the place non-members will likely look and that way they'll be able to find what they're looking for more quickly. Notice, though, that it's a .org and not a .com.

Idea, I'm just wondering... I set up my profile and answered a whole bunch of the questions they gave us to choose from. Afterwards, I went in to look at some of the other members' profiles and their answers to the questions. I could hardly believe it. Most were two or three sentences long at the most. Here I gave my typical book-length responses. Do they edit most of your stuff out or am I the only one who wrote long answers? I'll feel terrible if they cut my responses down to two or three sentences. I spent a lot of time on them and was feeling so good about how comprehensive they were.
