Most Hated Family in America Documentary!

porkchop

I'm Heffer!!!
I have just finished watching a documentary on the BBC2 channel ( England) with interviewer Louis Thouroux, who stayed with the most hated family in America; the Phelps'.
I only heard about this family on RF and was shocked by what i heard, but this was horrific! What hatred these people have for the world. The head of this cult church of there's Mr. Fred Phelps himself, only appeared on camera two times and was very aurgumentative, full of hate, and told the interviewer he was stupid!!
Boy, what restraint Louis had, being told he was going to hell, but the young girl telling him didnt show concern, she laughed in his face and said it bought her pleasure to know that!! Do these guys read the Bible??? They looked so happy to shout abuse and picket funerals for soldiers and said that people didnt "get the message", how about preaching Jesus' message. All they said was "God hates ****" and "God hates America" Great message:rolleyes: Ah! These things make me so mad, cause as much as its interesting and highlights nut jobs like these, you always get people who refer to them when you say your a christian.
Anyone else see this? Theres a website bbc2 thing, sorry, dont know all the address, if you google it, im sure youll find it.

I could rant for days bout those guys!!!!!!!!!:149: :verymad:

I saw that tonight. Oh man, that was uncomfortable viewing. What a terrible message and what a spiritual, emotional and intellectual wasteland the people preaching it were living in.

Porkchop one of the things about them was that they seemed to thrive on anger and hatred. It seemed to me to be a vicious cycle. I wonder how long their group could continue to maintain its social cohesion if people didn't get angry but felt sadness for them.

I agree Scarlett, they seemed to enjoy being horrible to people and you could see the hatred in their eyes, very disturbing viewing. I think that the granddaughter that Louis was talking to the most will come out of it evntually, there seemed to be some hope with her, you could tell she was wearing a mask, and it was so sad to see young children picketing with them who, when asked, didnt know what the signs said or meant!! That should be under child abuse.

Ahhh yes, the Phelps family. Or as I like to call them, "Proof that evolution is false." ;)

They're like The Addams Family, only more bigoted and hate-filled.

I am not sure that anyone could really be that bad; perhaps he just wanted to appear on TV and so "Assumed the Character".

Michel,

you mean like Limbaugh? So we either have people who are immoral for their hate or immoral for their ability to exploit their apparent hate. Either way, they make my skin crawl.

They weren't that bad, whatever that means, but they did seem to need anger, hatred and probably a fair dose of sadism to maintain the integrity of the group. Not too healthy.

The documentary has popped up on YouTube. If anyone's interested click here.

LOL! they live about forty miles from me, I thought it would be funny to join in on a protest of theirs to see what is was like on the "other" side, (I've done the same with a neo-nazi group in Indiana). I gave my support to them and their "church" in the form of joining one of their many protests, not that I believed what they were doing or saying but for the simple fact that they make religion look so bad. People get so worked up on all sides over iconography whether in symbol or words, makes no difference most people are just too damn easy no matter how intelligent they believe they are, most still react appropriately. It's been said before but if you really despise these people, do not hate them it's what they want, they want you to give them attention that they would not get otherwise. Ignore them, don't counter protest, leave the streets bare, they will have no one to stoke the fires and then they go home.

I'd do the same for some random black militant group but I don't think I'd fit in... and we are "racist".

I agree with Dr. Nosophros.

Why aren't these people just being ignored. Even when they protest outside funerals. If they are not posing a threat nor breaking any laws it is best to ignore them and deny them the platform they desire to spread their hatred.

That platform being free time given to them that seem to be the most offended by them.

And besides, there are so many things going on in America to make these people look like smurfs in my opinion.
